Although the African American community makes up only 12% of New Jersey’s population, we also make up 16% of all deaths from COVID-19 over the last year. Now, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, only 4% of New Jersey vaccinations have gone to African Americans. These facts are simply unacceptable.
Let’s be clear. This is not because African Americans in our state won’t take the vaccine. For example, Somerset County opened the first community-based vaccination site at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, and more than 3,000 people registered within 28 hours.
Nor is this a “supply” issue. New Jersey is getting vaccines, it’s just that only 4% are finding their way to African American communities. ....

Stanford University rolled out a new center hosting scholars, guests, and programs affiliated with groups backed by the Chinese Communist Party.
The Stanford Center on China s Economy and Institutions opened in February. The center is a subsidiary organization under the umbrella of the Freeman Spogli Institute, a foreign policy consortium with ties to Peking University, a school run by former Chinese spymaster Qiu Shuiping.
The center will host a March 9 event centered on local governance in China featuring Prof. Jean Oi, a founding member of the Stanford research center at Peking University. The Australian Strategic Policy Institute designated Peking University a high risk university for its partnerships with military research programs on nuclear technology. ....

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) U.S. San Francisco Mayor London Breed on Monday announced an investment of 2.5 million U.S. dollars in the city s African American Small Business Revolving Loan Fund (AARLF).
The investment brings the total secured funding to 6.3 million dollars and will enable the fund to support an estimated 150 businesses, the announcement said.
This has been such a difficult year for small businesses across San Francisco, and sadly, Black-owned businesses across the country have been especially hard hit and many have had to close their doors for good, said Breed. ....
