heading. this week we'll see how consumers are spending their money when a number of major corporations release their quarterly earnings. we'll get another measure of the jobs pictures thursday when they release numbers on how many people are making new claims for unemployment benefits. also on thursday the government will release sales figures on existing homes for june along with numbers on new home construction. let's get more on the economy and the latest on jobs. when you have all these people who are unemployed and unemployment benefits have run out for many of them, congress has not taken action on even temporarily extending some of those, you have people saying i need a job and i need one now. are we likely to see that jobs picture changing dramatically? >> it will change dramatically. the u.s. hasn't had 10% unemployment rate for a long time. the fact is the companies are very stretched.
