windy weather has been toppling the bay area all day. powerful gusts sent these crashing down around the bay area and some land in san francisco we have new video that shows a huge tree dropped on a sedans windshield. more smashed cars were also spotted in oakland, fallen trees nearly missed a home, causing a huge mess in the front lawn. and taking a look outside, no clouds outside, you can see our camera shaking around, and our night. >> we have the wind advisory in the forecast, those pictures give us a really good idea of why the national weather service issues those. first a review, look out how we have done so far. this is where the current wind speeds top out, we are not done, we are not out of the worst until we get past sunset. santa rosa is near 15 mile-per- hour gusts, sent cisco, 51, oakland, the winner on this page, we had a 59-mile per our guest at the oakland airport today, if we take a look at the current wind speeds, these are like they have been for the last seven hours straight. we have not noticed much improvement yet. these are the gusts, very close to the numbers that i just showed you. that wind advisory is staying in effect until 11:00 tomorrow morning. there are some little nuances in this. in the heart of the bay, the wind advisory expires at 7:00. things will calm down after sunset. more on that and what to expect, next in the complete forecast. nature's power on full display in the san francisco bay, with a high wind putting on quite a show that attracted tourists and locals alike. john has the story. >> reporter: if you have ever wondered what sealevel rise could look like, people on the embarcadero got a preview this morning. we knew that it would be a windy king tide, but even veterans of san francisco could not believe what they were seeing. >> i am on the embarcadero all the time and i've never seen anything like this. it looks like something out of a horror film. the joggers overtaken by waves as they are running, i think everybody is really attracted to it, but at the same time, a little fear freaked out by it. >> the angry water of the bay rose up, drenching those who dared to venture too close. >> what we've got going on down here was a miniature tsunami and it was very unexpected today. >> the ferry service continued. >> it will be scary like the titanic or something. >> two of the fairies shut down because of the high seas, one look at this loading dock tells you why. san francisco's normal attractions on this day took a backseat to what mother nature was serving up. >> it is fun, it changes it up and gives us a change when we don't have much different weather. 's and it feels like i'm going to fly away. >> it is amazing, it is calamity at its best. >> there were real dangers from the high wind, a eucalyptus tree crashed down onto parked cars and streets were closed at mission and fremont after a window was torn from the 41st lore of the millennium tower in the downtown area, sending glass exploding onto the street below. luckily no one was injured. we have been warned climate change will bring more extreme weather at high seas. today we got a taste of what that might be like. >> it is a little preview, it is hard to imagine until you start to see the impact. you start to see more and more of this situation and hopefully more people will realize. >> some say we have pushed nature to the brink and this is what it looks like when it pushes back. the wind was not so fun for one open family that lives long skyline boulevard. a tree came crashing down on talk on topof a master bedroom, fred was out with one of his six kids but his wife was in the room. >> my wife was frantic. the tree fell on the master bedroom. she was in there at the time. >> reporter: the city has been removing dead trees in the area for the last year, but it did not stop this one from crashing down. and also, whipping wind brought down power lines and created more danger for drivers. this is southbound 80, earlier today, some powerlines fell in the middle of the roadway, creating a massive backup. the roadway has since then been cleared. >> that's the sound of a sparking transformer, caught on camera in oakland, you can hear the pops and crackles, all caused by whipping wind, the fire crew says this should serve as a reminder to stay away from down wires. pg&e is working overtime to restore power to thousands of residents, with outages impacting nearly 80,000 customers today. and the east bay is getting the brunt of it all, the last word from pg&e, just under 49,000 customers have lost power. and it is lights out for 21,000 customers in the south bay. the peninsula and the northbay scene 4000 outages each. in san francisco they are a lot luckier, reporting over 200 outages. fremont police say a police proceed with a teen suspect ended in a crash this morning, when an officer stopped a car wanted in connection with a theft. the suspect allegedly rammed his car against the patrol car to escape and he sped away but ended up crashing into another car lowry avenue and farwell drive, causing that vehicle to flip over. the suspect tried to run away, but police caught up with him. back at the crash site, fire crews had to use the jaws of life to free the when many people were out at the bars at the corner of ashbury. the person who pulled the trigger was an off-duty fbi agent. devon has more information. >> reporter: the scene has been cleared. what is far less clear is exactly what unfolded. the fbi, police department and district attorney's office have all investigated. >> police radio traffic suggested early on that this was no average shooting. the san francisco police department says the shooter was an off-duty federal agent, a member of the fbi. what triggered the shooting remains under investigation after >> the involvement of the off- duty federal agencies being investigated. and the protocol is our homicide detail in that investigation along with the san francisco district attorney's office independent investigations bureau. >> reporter: paramedics treated the victim at the scene. they eventually rushed to the hospital. >> an adult male had been shot. police officers rendered aid to that person. he was transferred to a hospital. >> reporter: fbi agents could be seen working with the investors and the police, to collect evidence at the scene of the shooting. released a statement. it read in part the fbi takes any incident involving agent or task force members seriously. the shooting incident is under investigation. the victim's condition has been upgraded, his injuries were initially described as life- threatening. his condition now is being described as non- life- threatening. a man is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car around 3:00 this morning near 19th and coniferous arab boulevard. a red previous was driving along 19th avenue when the man was hit, it is unclear why the man was in the road. the driver remained at the scene, according to police. we have an update on the hit and run that took the life of a toddler in contra costa county, the driver is in custody. the suspect turned himself in last night. hector was standing near his father when he was hit by the suv. hector was airlifted to the hospital. it all happened around 5:00 friday night near 23rd avenue. all of this important information from the community helped lead to the drivers arrest.
