and 40s. elsewhere all 30s on the map right now. as we move along this morning we will start to see the graduate warm-up. more impressive through the afternoon meaning a warmer afternoon than yesterday. very welcome news across the map. radar and satellite. wider view than the last half hour. scattered clouds to our north. otherwise plenty of clear conditions around our region yet again. plenty of sun in the forecast for your sunday. and current wind speeds yet again not really a big issue. right around 5 to 10 miles per hour. that's going to continue through your afternoon. some light to low end breezy conditions temperatures better off than they were on saturday. so, overall this is a great day to get outside. we'll talk more about the conditions on your sunday. but we're going to have the details on those chances of rain returning early on in your work week. all of that coming up. >> we'll see you shortly thanks krystal. philadelphia police will be looking at surveillance video as they investigate a mob-style attack in center city. it happened near 16th and walnut street around 6:00 last night. a police source tells us a group of more than 50 teenage boys moved down the block, picked out people at random and attacked them. at least eight people were hurt including an off-duty officer who tried to arrest several of the boys. we spoke to a couple who witnessed the attack. they did not want their faces shown on camera. take a listen to what they had to say. >> one guy's hands were shaking but crazily shaking. he was obviously so upset. >> police arrested three teens and they now hope to identify more boys involved in the attack. in bucks county a barricade situation ended after more than eight hours. police say the suspect fired on officers. that put milltown township on guard yesterday and forced neighbors to evacuate. nbc 10's andrea cline-thomas tells us exactly what happened. >> reporter: negotiators used text messages to stay in contact with the man. they even brought in friends and family to help convince him. when they didn't hear from him for two or three hours, s.w.a.t. ended up having to go in. tear gas didn't work. a robot couldn't see anything. finally, s.w.a.t. went into the home on juneville road only to find the man they were looking for roald up in a carpet. his arrest ended more than an eight hour standoff. >> i believe he may have texted a picture of himself with a shotgun. >> reporter: police say he may have used that gown to fire shots at officers earlier in the afternoon. at least 75 authorities responded after the man allegedly sent text messages to a current or former girlfriend threatening to harm himself and possibly family members. >> shelter in place until further notice. >> reporter: the avenue was blocked. area residents received phone calls telling them to stay in their homes. the immediate neighbors were forced to evacuate. pizza helped residents pass the time as they waited at the american legion hall. meanwhile authorities attempted to continue negotiations. >> he was, you know, coming in and out of his front door. peeking, you know, in and out of a front window, back window, opening the window, shutting the window, kind of playing games with us. >> reporter: by 8:30 it was over. the gun was recovered and no one was injured. authorities are not releasing the name of this man. they say he will face criminal charges. but he'll also get the help that he needs. reporting in milltown township, andrea cline-thomas, nbc 10 news. let's head now to philadelphia's crescentville neighborhood where an suv slammed into a house. this happened at the intersection of s street and roosevelt boulevard last night. you can see that suv against the brick retaining wall by the house. there is no word on any injuries in this case. or whether charges will be filed. >> police in portland, oregon, kept watch on anti-trump protesters last night. most were peaceful. but, officers still had to make more than a does arrests. a fifth night of democrat stations in portland against the president-elect. protesters in indianapolis got an early start last night. demonstrators packed the lawn of the indiana state house. police made several arrests here. meantime in miami demonstrators held a candle light vigil spreading the message of peace and unity while expressing outrage over the result of the election. >> today it's the battle of the birds at the linc. the eagles host the atlanta falcons at 1:00 this afternoon. and nbc 10's monique braxton is live at the linc singing, fly, eagles, fly, it will be the theme song of the day given the fact that some of the birds are coming to town. talking about the falcons. the eagles are welcoming those other birds on this week ten in the nfl. the philadelphia birds are going in to week ten with a 4-4 record. but at home the record is 3-0. those games have a winning average of 20 points per game. coach pederson hopes though, notice a difference compared to yesterday. yesterday still in the 40s at your lunch hour. today 55 by noon, also sunny throughout the entire day just like yesterday with the winds about 5 to 10 miles per hour. at times picking up to low end breezy rain. your temperatures should peak about 61 degrees in philadelphia. upper 50s to low 60s. better off than kard to yesterday when we were in the upper 40s to low 50s. in new jersey similar story. right now 35 degrees, time is 6:10 in the morning as we move throughout your afternoon, already into the 50s. and those winds are going to be coming in mostly from the west, or even the southwest. again, helps us out. pushes in warmer air. allows for that temperature to pick up more so than what we saw just yesterday and delaware will be the same. i expect highs to get to the low 60s. 2:00, already into the upper 50s. sunday conditions and those winds pushing in from the west. things do change course, chances of rain early on in your work week. we'll talk more about that coming up. >> we have a quick travel heads up for patco riders. the city hall station in camden will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for maintenance work. trains will pass through the city hall station but they won't stop. patco is advising riders to use the broadway station, which is just a short walk away. seniors will now have an easier time riding wild fires near the georgia/north carolina line that officials are telling residents there to wear special masks for outdoor activities. the fires have prompted evacuations in western north carolina, georgia, and tennessee. authorities suspect many of the fires are arson. firefighters are having trouble containing the flames because of drought conditions and strong winds. in cincinnati, ohio, protesters took to the streets this weekend after a mistrial was declared in the case against an officer who shot an unarmed african-american man. a judge says the jury could not each a unanimous decision in the case. former university of cincinnati officer shot and killed a person during a traffic stop last year. he claims he feerd for his life. prosecutors insist the evidence told a different story. they will decide in the next few weeks whether to retry him. now to news overseas. four americans are dead from a suicide bombing at bagram air base in afghanistan. defense secretary ash carter says the vick tips were two servicemen and two contractors. he also says more than a does of the military members were wounded. the blast happened yesterday morning just before a fun run inside the base. the taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. carter says the u.s. will not be deterred from his mission to help afghanistan secure its own future. meantime in pakistan, a deadly bomb blast killed at least 52 people and wounded more than 100 others. they're looking at a hospital receiving some of the victims. isis claimed responsibility for this suicide attack at a muslim shrine. the terror group says it was targeting shiite muslims whom it considers to be heretics to islam. in iraq a human rights group says isis is behind a series of recent chemical attacks. the group claims isis rockets carrying mustard gas continue to hit a town in northern iraq. isis is battling u.s.-backed iraqi troops for control of mosul. take a look at this video from syria. this is where cruise pulled a baby from the rubble after an air strike. rescuers rushed to a damaged home moments after bombs rained down on a village. syrian civil defense crews were able to get the child to safety. the rebels in syria's civil war blame syrian government war planes for this attack. let's head to paris for the bataclan night club is open again one year after the deadly terror attacks. an iraq legend got the place going again in style. ♪ >> students performed a special benefit concert last night. some of those injured at the club were invited back for the reopening. it was one year ago today when dozens of the 130 people killed in the paris attacks were murdered inside this club. isis claimed responsibility for the worst terror violence in french history. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. and we're starting out with those temperatures, another cold morning that's been in the forecast coming to fruition obviously. we're seeing those temperatures dropping in the 30s across the board in your philadelphia neighborhoods. we're at 31 degrees. remember today we were under that freeze warning and there we go with some numbers now below freezing. a lot of us are in the 30s above freezing. 38 in kensington, center city and 37 for rittenhouse. some areas have slipd below 30 even 28 degrees summerton currently. so it's a cold start out there. as we go a long way, things are looking better off. more 30s on the map at the lehigh valley neighborhoods. cookstown at 37, some places have dropped into the 20s this morning. later today, though, upper 50s are expected throughout the lehigh valley which is considerably warmer than what we saw yesterday afternoon. radar and satellite clear conditions for the most part. scattered clouds clipping by allentown and just north of our viewing area. and that's about all we're expecting today is some clouds, moving by throughout your afternoon. otherwise, plenty of sun, nice warm-up, and winds will mostly be on the light side. light to low-end breezy. these are the big stories. the warmer sunday, that's the focus for today. you can certainly get outdoors if you didn't do it yesterday. i was out for a bit yesterday afternoon with the sun out. even though it was cooler than average, actually helped pretty good. so this is going to feel even better. 61 degrees in philadelphia. the suburbs, 59. areas like south jersey, low 60s. that's through the shore. and delaware, as well. constantly sunny conditions. then, it's all about the next coastal system that will be affecting us. so we have our eyes on the storm system that's going to track along the coast, and then clip by our area. now a little widespread, it will move more directly over us. the result is, chances of rain wavering. it looks like the best chance will be starting late-day monday through tuesday, particularly in delaware, and along the shore. but that chance will also be in areas like philadelphia, boosting up on your tuesday, and same for areas like reading through the lehigh valley. really more focused on tuesday, though, in those areas for those chances of rain. here's a quick look at your ten-day forecast. those temperatures that we do see, they're going to be moving along the low 60s for sunday into your monday. and then as we track throughout, there's a chance of rain i was mentioning on your tuesday. little better off, little warmer, as well, friday into saturday, before the next dip saturday into your sunday. >> big week coming up. severe winter weather week for our first alert meteorologists. and that means you guys are going to be visiting different malls throughout the area. >> that's exactly right. we pick these malls for kind of a particular reason. all of these were designated with the title of a weather ready people not only get information but are prepared to take action based on that information. >> so we met with kate johnson at the outlets to break down how they got the designation and what they're doing to protect you. >> it was largely an online training course that our management team went through and our security team, as well. so it told us what to do in the event such as tornadoes, severe snowstorms, which obviously we're going to be dealing with this winter perhaps. and other types of severe weather that could come through. >> reporter: if you're shopping on a quiet day or during the holiday rush and rough weather hits these malls are ready. >> we're going through an ongoing process of scheduling training drills, and evacuation drills for different types of storm emergencies. >> this outdoor mall is sending people to exit hallways. those halls where rest rooms are usually located. >> there's no glass in case of tornado, hurricane, that kind of thing. >> and of course, they're stocked with emergency supplies to keep you and employees safe. >> it involves evacuation cards, flash lights, first aid kits, things like that that they would need. >> a real life line when you get off-duty police officer tried to step in. plus protesters pack the streets in cities all across the country for another night of demonstrations against the election of donald trump as president. this as his supporters call on the country to give him a chance. and it's the battle of the birds. the eagles play the atlanta falcons right here at the linc today. they hope the home field advantage will help them break a two-game losing streak on the road. nbc 10 news starts now. good morning, welcome back to "nbc 10 news today" i'm rosemary connors. it's 6:30 on this sunday. the chill is here. it's still with us. another cold morning to start our day but we will get the sunshine again. let's get more from meteorologist krystal klei. >> good morning, rosemary. mother nature is a fan of the eagles football, because as we go along through this afternoon the forecast is looking really good. and much warmer than yesterday. not yet, though. early start to your day, it's still chilly. 38 degrees in philadelphia. 35 in the suburbs. we do see some numbers right around freezing at 32. parts of the lehigh valley. . through parts of delaware. look at the live camera shots here. beautiful shots as the sun is coming up this morning. really a nice start to your day. and it's going to be a sunny, dry one, as well. so it's a warmer forecast. most of us will be in the upper 50s to the low 60s. philadelphia, forecast high of 61. and that's the same for parts of new jersey. along the shore we should see temperatures peaking right around the upper 50s to 60 degrees as well. and you can see again that live camera shot how nice the conditions we're starting out with this morning for your sunday. so we are starting out with those clear conditions. as we take a look there's nothing heading our direction, either. but we have a system coming up the coast. we'll talk more about how that's going to affect our forecast with chances of rain moving in and the potential for rain popping up a few more times on that extended ten-day on ten in just a bit. >> see you shortly. three teenagers are under arrest and police are looking for more off a mob-style attack in center city. an off-duty police officer who tried to put a stop to the beatings is one of the injured victims. this all happened near 16th and walnut streets around 6:00 last night. a police source tells us the group of about 50 teenage boys moved down the block, picking out people at random and then attacking them. at least eight people were hurt. the off-duty officer tried to arrest several of the boys but the mob turned on him breaking the bone around his eye. witnesses who were shaken up after the incident spoke to us on camera but did not want their faces shown. >> it was unprovoked. they didn't say anything. and they just found themselves, you know, getting beat up. it was scary. >> police will be looking at surveillance video to identify more boys from the group to arrest. this morning two women are in credit cal condition following an accident in center city. police say both were hit at 11th and market streets just before 2:30 this morning. investigators tell us the drivers did stay at the scene. there's no word of any charges in this case. this morning a suspect is in critical but stable condition following a police involved shooting in philadelphia. here's what we know. police tell us they were checking out a minivan at fourth and linley streets last night when a man got out of the van and took off running. police say they chased the suspect, who fell, got up, and then turned toward the officers with a gun. that's when one officer shot the suspect. that officer is on administrative leave while authorities investigate the case. villanova university is urging its campus community to come together after a student says she was attacked by a group of men yelling trump. police tell nbc 10 that the assault happened in the septaness tunnels between west campus and main campus thursday night. there are few details on this incident but yesterday villanova released a statement saying that this racist behavior runs completely counter to the school's values. there's no word on any suspects but villanova insists anyone responsible will face serious consequences. the fbi continues to look into racist messages sent to black students at the university of pennsylvania. security experts traced the messages to oklahoma. and the university of oklahoma has suspended one of its students in connection with the case. using a text messaging app, someone or some people who identified themselves as trump's disciples and daddy trump sent 100 students at penn racist messages, and images of lynchings. president-elect trump graduated from penn's wharton school of business. penn alumni have started a change.org petition calling on mr. trump to break his silence on the string of hate crimes following the election. they're urging him to make a statement denouncing all hate speech. so far it has received nearly 6,000 signatures. post-election protests are continuing across the country. you're looking at an anti-trump demonstration in portland, oregon, last night. police made at least two dozen arrests here. other protests in new york, miami, and las vegas have been mostly peaceful. police escorted dozens of demonstrators who carried signs criticizing the president-elect. anti-trump protesters also took to the streets of bucks county last night. these photos show demonstrators marching. the presidential vote in bucks county was really split, 48% to 48% with clinton winning by just 2,000 votes. >> you're a bunch of liberal, communists -- >> at the sound of duelling protests between pro-trump and anti-trump supporters in easton. nbc 10 was at the roundabout where both sides made their voices heard from opposite sides of the street. trump supporters said the country should give the president-elect a chance. trump opponents promised to keep their protests going. a little bit later this morning on "meet the press" the trump transition will be the focus of discussion. moderator chuck todd will sit down with trump campaign manager kellyanne conway, and new jersey senator cory booker. we will talk to chuck todd about 7:45 this morning and then of course, "meet the press" airs at 10:30 right here on nbc 10. it is game day again at the linc. the eagles a really nice forecast. conditions that are going to start chilly out there. we've already seen temperatures in the 30s but we'll warm up much more than what we saw yesterday. so by 9:00 a.m. already in the low 40s. by your afternoon, quickly into the 50s. 57 degrees 1:00 p.m. i expect our forecast high will peak in the low 60s for philadelphia. clear conditions throughout. both the daytime and into the evening, as well. once sun sets the temperature will quickly slope down. in the suburbs already at 51 degrees by 5:00. another cool night but your afternoon a little warmer into the upper 50s through parts of the suburbs and the lehigh valley. moving through delaware, forecast at 45 degrees 9:00 a.m. cold start through delaware, new jersey, and the shore. the afternoon we now are pushing in more from the west and southwest. that bumps up the temperatures because it's pushing in warmer air. temperatures right around the mid 50s. consistently at 56 by 1:00 p.m. throughout parts of delaware and new jersey as well. we made it to the mid 60s on friday and as expected yesterday only made it to the low 50s for the high in philadelphia. the average is 57 degrees. today forecast right back above it and stay there monday. monday into tuesday, we pull back in chances of rain and your temperature will start to drop again. more detail with your extended forecast. >> thanks for that against him. people concerned about the trump presidency held a forum in old philadelphia yesterday. organizers say many minority groups are frightened about what could happen to them following the heated language of the campaign. they're calling for new measures to protect minorities and immigrants. well how about a round on the boss? that's how the superstar rocker thanked some bikers who guy whose motorcycle had broken down. they had no clue it was springsteen until they got up close and realized who it was. the biker gave the boss a ride to a local bar where springsteen chatted with them for a bit before picking up the tab. pretty nice. let's get a check of our weather now with meteorologist krystal klei. krystal, we don't have any rain out there. that's the good news. but pretty darn chilly this morning. >> in fact if we had rain out there in some spots it would be snow potential because the temperatures are below freezing in areas. don't worry we don't have that. we're dry. new jersey neighborhoods where we're starting with and some of us right around 32 degrees and even lower than that. 28 degrees, audubon at 31 degrees and some of us just barely above the 30 degree mark. florence at 38. mount laurel, right at 32 degrees right now. and most of the numbers are right near each other in those 30s. of course, princeton typical for us reporting a little cooler, 22 degrees. so it's a cold start out there this morning. of course we expected this. in some areas across the region, we'll see that freeze warning has been put into place. it's through 8:00 a.m. this morning. that warning is in place. it's primarily for locations that have not yet seen the freeze whereas some parts of new jersey have seen freezing conditions this season. so this is not necessarily anything new at this point. after the eagles game going on today if you're getting that early start. tailgate will be chilly. 40s to about 50 degrees over the next few hours here. for kickoff, though, 1:00 p.m., good conditions. 60 degrees and sunny. winds are only going to be 10 to 15 miles per hour. couldn't ask for a better fall forecast. actually a little bit above average for this time of year. the fourth quarter, 58 degrees and still plenty of sunshine if you're heading out to hopefully celebrate the victory over at the linc. looking at the forecast for the rest of your neighborhoods. 51 degrees, a lot of consistency on this. most numbers going to be right around upper 50s, to low 60s. 58 in westchester, cookstown at 58, as well. and allentown at 58 degrees. sun across the board, i don't expect anything other than maybe some thin, high clouds to pass by. and that's spotty at best. atlantic city at 60, as well. and, how about we just go 60 for cape may. 59 degrees the forecast highs for smyrna. look at your hour by hour. this is an important forecast because it really changes over the next couple of days. we're dry for your sunday. we start in the morning. we go 3:00 here, stop for dinner time. 6:30, still clear. if you're kind of hoping you can get out this afternoon into this evening, certainly in the plans. you go overnight into monday so clear as we move through your monday morning, and then we start to see those clouds moving in from the south. this is ahead of that coastal system that we've been tracking. now the models are a little back and forth. some giving us a better hit. some keeping a little off the shore. either way i believe we'll be getting some rain. it should start in delaware, late-day monday as well as the shore. then we go overnight tuesday, there we are 3:30 in the morning. now we have those showers spreading throughout our region. some pockets of heavy rain are possible. the showers should continue throughout your tuesday as well looks like in the forecast. how much rain we get will really depend on how close the system clips to the shore. but at this point looking like most of our region with chance of rain monday night
