his murder and that is well about 11:00. the types change chased the victim and -- the teens chased him and beat him with a shovel. as he lay dieing, they robbed him. >> reporter: police say it started with a call saturday night about people drinking. being disorderly and chasing each other with the shovel on the 5200 block of newton street in bladensburg. when they arrived, the found the 54-year-old dead on the side of the road and that he was brutally beaten with a shovel. that is not all. >> and after they beat the victim, we had one of the suspects going through the victim's pockets. >> reporter: it's not known what was taken from the victim. the 16-year-old andrea and 17- year-old james murray are charged with the murder and both lived within blocks of the crime scene. >> supposedly they were drinking in the area and attempted to rob the victim and struck him with a shovel several times. >> reporter: police don't know how or if the types knew him but that the crime was especially brutal. >> and this is a heinous crime. these individuals, juveniles, they beat this man and you that they're going to be be charged as an adult. >> reporter: a neighbor said that he was living in this basement condo unit and doing work for the owner. she didn't know much else about him. they admitted their involvement with the crime. now, the young men are facing many years in prison and charged as adult -- adults with first-degree murder and robbery. maureen urk me, fox 5 news. -- maureen umeh, fox 5 news. and the police want to know if you can-them find two armed robbery suspects. and that happened in the 4700 block of columbia pike last wednesday before 9 a.m. one man had a gun and the other had a knife and hill it to an employee's throat and forced her to open and got away with cash and if you know who did this, arlington county police would like to hear from you. funeral services for a teacher who died wednesday when she was caught in a rip current. she was expecting her first child. she taught at the river school in d.c. she and her husband were in the outer banks in north carolina when they fell off of the sand bar and were swept into the water. thirty hours later, they were rescued and jill died at the hospital and had just made a video for the little girl the day before. >> i am six months pregnant and our baby girl is -- three months in november for thanksgiving. and on her birthday and -- [ indiscernible ] not nervous that is exciting. >> and that is heartbreaking. her husband matt survived. the river school set up a scholarship fund in jill's name. the man suspected of that deadly movie massacre in colorado has formally been charged with murder. holmes faces 142 cows total including 24 counts of first- degree murder and 116 charges of attempted murder. james holmes is accused of killing 12 and wound 58 others during the midnight premier of the "dark knight rises." prosecutors could file additional charges and is unclear if they will seek the death penalty. a survivor said that he forgives him. he was shot twice in the foot and twice in the arm and said that the only way he can fully recover is to forgive. >> i forgive you
