It’s not the first time a member of her family has done so: Her mother was part of a landmark study on estrogen and breast cancer starting in the mid-1980s. “I am pretty familiar with the science of vaccines,” said Fair, 49, who teaches biology and chemistry at Mill Valley High School, 45 minutes east of Topeka. “They aren’t something that scares me. This is such a catastrophe that we are living through – and they needed us.”
