to get there. the crews go through daily firefighting and evacuation drills. in some cases more than once a day. all the manned rigs have alarm and fire detection systems. trained firefighters on hand when other crews are involved in what you call hot work, the kind of work that might cause a fire. the rigs have emergency shut down devices, reduredundanciere water deluge system, portable chemical extinguishers and life boats. many safety regular laces were put in place after major disasters. some of the deadliest include the piper alpha disaster that killed 167 people in the north sea in 1988. 123 people died in an accident off of norway in 1989. and then in 1982, off of newfoundland, 84 people were killed when a rig sank. we're going to have more on that later in the show. it's one of the most important decisions any president can make. president obama is in the process of making it. what is he looking for in the next supreme court justice?
