one senior russian lawmaker put it we may have to exist in parallel realities, one with the u.s. continuing to put pressure on russia with these sanctions, on the other hand will be negotiating and working with the u.s. in places like syria where the two presidents agreed that they would try to set up a limited cease fire in south western syria with the help of the jordanian government and with the russian military police on the ground trying to enforce that in one pocket of the much broader and deadly civil war in syria. >> it was interesting you mentioned how it's being characterized as a break through, this meeting. specifically, what do you hear might be the break through moment for -- for people who are watching there in russia? >> reporter: first of all, the fact that you had a russian and u.s. president meeting for the first time in nearly two years. it hasn't happened since september of 2015.
