i think it's going to come back and hurt her. >> senator inhoff, bob gates also said that vice president joe biden has been wrong on every foreign policy issue for the last four decades. you served with him in the u.s. senate as a colleague for a number of years. do you think that bob gates is correct on that point? >> well, you know, he's a real gracious person. i had a long conversation with the vice president the other day when i had a loss in my family. we talked for over an hour. now, i have debated him in years past on foreign -- on issues where i have disagreed with him. and so i don't say -- i can't say that he's been wrong on everything. but i've disagreed with him on most things. >> right. and senator cardin, it's certainly not unusual, not unprecedented for former administration officials, former administration official to write scathing tell-all books while the administration still holds office. but in this case bob gates, did you argue at all with the timing of the release of this book? >> well, i do.
