One of the pervasive — and baseless — arguments #StopTheSteal advocates made in the weeks after Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump in the 2020 election was that voting machines, and in particular those made by U.S. Dominion Inc., were manipulated. This was never proven true. But it didn't stop Trump's allies from saying all sorts of things Dominion's executives and attorneys have argued are false and defamatory: That its origins were in Venezuela; that its machines had a 68% error rate in Antrim County, Michigan; and that its machines were "developed to steal elections." Right-wing "news" outlets carried dozens of stories repeating the allegations with breathless headlines — "BOMBSHELL," "IT WAS SYSTEMIC-PURPOSEFUL FRAUD," and, "Oomf! Dominion CEO LIED!"
