Article content I have become addicted to a Facebook page called Montreal Historical Photos Historiques. I can spend hours looking at Ste-Catherine St. in the 1950s, with its all-English signage; St-Hubert St., the queen of French neon signs, in the 1960s; St-James St. in the 1940s, when it was the main artery of Canada’s pre-eminent financial district. There are images of Montreal’s gilded age, when McGill University’s splendid Victorian faculty buildings were private homes. Not to mention those that were demolished by politicians and developers insensitive to beauty. We apologize, but this video has failed to load.
