Pernod Ricard has reported a -57% drop in global travel retail sales during the first half of the 2020/2021 financial year (01/07/2020- 31/12/2020). According to the company, passenger traffic remained in severe decline in H1, leading to sales declines across key brands. This was despite the resumption of domestic travel and increased spend per traveller. Continued strict cost control was in place in response to the decline, in order to focus on critical business drivers including investment in Hainan. The drinks group, which reported a total sales decrease of -8.9% during the period to â¬4,985 million/$6,000,000 million, reported positive performance across offshore duty free businesses in Hainan and Jeju.
