been great. we have some windy conditions, probably going to develop around the bay area near the coastline today. got a few clouds out there right now. mostly cloudy early on near the coastline a little breezy, too, already. some of those clouds filtering into the bay clear skies inland cool by the afternoon those winds whipping up pretty good coastside. still, some sunshine and comfortable weather but how about some of 80s this weekend like sydnie loves. we'll talk more about that in a minute. right now let's check on traffic with elizabeth. >> i love it, too. bake in the sun. let's go out towards san mateo. westbound 92 approaching el camino real. we are getting word of the accident. sounds like lanes are likely blocked. possible injuries, as well. we know an ambulance is heading to the scene. so watch out. if you are coming off of the san mateo bridge so far conditions are nice across the span. but we'll have more traffic coming up including a check of mass transit. back to you >> thank you. we begin with a developing story in the east bay. a deadly shooting involving a sheriff's deputy. it happened just a few hours ago in front of a car dealership in dublin. kiet do is at the scene with the latest. >> reporter: good morning. we are live at the dodge dealership in dublin. this is just off dublin boulevard and 680 southbound in the city of dublin. this involves an alameda county sheriff's deputy. it started at about 1:30 this morning when a female sergeant came across a suspicious person who was walking about the area here. she talked to him. they somehow got into some sort of argument and then a struggle. then she suffered injuries to her head. he used some sort of weapon, not sure exactly what it was. they say it could have been a stick or rock or something like that, of that nature but she suffered injuries and called for help at which point she drew her gun and fired at least one shot and the suspect died on the scene. the deputy has been taken to the hospital. her injuries are unknown at this point. the body is still out here on the property of the dealership and investigators are trying to gather evidence and figure out what happened here. a short time ago, we saw the alameda county sheriff himself show up on the scene here so gives you some indication as to how serious this is. but again, they say that the suspect is a well-known transient in the area. he has a history of violent fighting. his body is still on the scene as they try to figure out what happened early this morning. the freeway is closed. so you cannot get off 680 southbound dublin boulevard and it will remain closed for at least a couple more hours here so this is an active police investigation. we'll be here throughout the morning and give all the latest updates as they happen. but that's for now. back to you. >> thank you, kiet do live in dublin. topping national news this morning, violent storms in the south, at least 170 people are dead. take a look at one of those deadly tornadoes camera rolling as that tornado roared across the campus of the university of alabama. so far, 128 people are known death in alabama. a photographer came face to face with that twister in tuscaloosa. >> you know, my heart was racing because you see, you know, things like that in movies and everything but you never see anything like that in real life. >> the national weather service got reports of 137 tornadoes in the south, about half of them in alabama. a federal disaster has been declared. the national guard is hard at work there. the damage there is massive. >> we have hundreds of homes and businesses destroyed and hundreds more damaged. >> i have lived in alabama all my life. i have never seen such damage. >> the weather also killed people in georgia, mississippi, tennessee and virginia. >> unbelievable. 4:34 now. another investigation under way into last year's deadly pipeline explosion in san bruno. federal officials are asking for thousands of pages of documents from california regulators for their probe. the "associated press" has learned the documents include pg&e maps, reports and emergency plans. and this morning, the "chronicle" reports that a top state gas safety regulator is telling pg&e that the only way to make sure pipelines are safe is to use high pressure water tests and that assumptions are just not adequate. 4:35. gloating about having someone killed. that's how yusef bey's former girlfriend described the murder suspect to oakland police. shortly after journalist chauncey bailey was gunned down, williams say bey gloated as they watched a tv report about the killing. the jury heard part of that interview yesterday. last week williams testified she didn't remember bey bragging about bailey's death. oakland police looking for a toyota like this in connection with monday's fatal shooting at a restaurant near jack london london. that's instead of a dodge avenger which they had been searching for in the past. investigators say four men took off after a gunman opened fire at sweet jimmie's on broadway. two men were killed. four other people were wounded two remain in critical condition. there is now a reward of up to $40,000 leading to an arrest. a major league coach under fire for crude comments last weekend during a giants game against the braves on saturday. a family from fresno says atlanta pitching coach roger mcdowell made crude comments and gestures to three men next to them in the bleachers. the father said when he complained, mcdowell told him kids don't belong at a baseball park. >> he turned completely towards me, grabbed his bat and picked it up and asked me how much my teeth were worth to me. >> i think what coach mcdowell did was really inappropriate. usually kids look up to major league players and coaches. >> mcdowell put out a statement apologizing for the way he responded to the hedging coming from the fans and the baseball commissioner says he is now waiting for all the facts before deciding how to proceed. bart says it might extend late night service. today bart's board of directors will discuss the proposal to push the time of the last train on saturday morning from 12:30 a.m. to 1:30. the extension of service would cost about $1.2 million, half in labor and half in marketing and outreach. the board president supports the plan saying it would attract new customers. a six-month trial period would start in september. a little spf 30 might be in order later this week but i guess a windbreaker today, huh, lawrence? >> yeah. winds going to be kicking up around the bay area looks like we're already starting to see some breezy conditions now developing along the coastline. clouds are moving onshore at the beaches. temperatures now santa rosa cool, 50 in san jose and 46 in livermore. i think by the afternoon, we are going to see a lot of sunshine and the temperatures warming up but it's going to feel cool toward the coast. notes wind did in some of the val -- not as windy in some of the valleys. 68 in santa rosa and 65 in san jose. looking out over the next couple days, it's going to whip through the next through as we see those winds continuing today and tomorrow. toward the weekend we are getting this right. we have those winds moving offshore. that will really crank up the temperatures mid-70s going to be common place as we head in toward saturday. by sunday, even some 80s showing up around the bay area and no rain in sight. let's check the traffic with elizabeth. thank you, lawrence. now, just checking the chp reports this accident in san mateo was just cleared to the right shoulder. it sounds like a car actually landed on its side so this is likely an injury crash. westbound 92 approaching el camino real that is in san mateo. again, no longer lanes blocked. all right. if you are crossing the san mateo bridge, the bridge looks great. nice and quiet this morning in the commute direction. westbound 92. if you are coming off the high- rise that's eastbound traffic towards hayward. all the approaches to the bay bridge look great, as well. really no big issues on westbound 24. not spotting any major roadwork in the east bay right now. and here's live look at conditions approaching the bay bridge toll plaza. no metering lights, no roadwork so far in the upper deck. if you are cruising into san francisco. the nimitz, 880 through oakland, you can see our sensors are showing live traffic conditions, live speeds here, 70, 69 miles per hour. so far al people are going just obama is expected to make his national security shake-up official. the press is expected to announce that leon panetta will replace outgoing defense secretary robert gates. gates said he will retire to his university records. the white house releasing a copy of the president's original birth certificate showing he was born in honolulu but that's not satisfying everyone. donald trump who pushed for the release of the certificate now wants to see the president's university records. last night in the bay area, senator dianne feinstein was highly critical of trump. >> i -- i think this is really reaching the point of ridiculousness, with all the problems in the world and if mr. trump wants to run for president, why doesn't he talk about what he would do to solve some of these problems instead of -- i think everybody that has ever heard barack obama knows he is a very smart man. >> and the president trying to distance himself and put the issue to rest before the presidential what, it's not san francisco. san jose had the highest rent increase in the nation for the 1st quarter of last year at close to 8%. that's altering a lot of people's plans. one apartment hunter we spoke with, who would like to live close to work in san jose, is sticking with a long commute. >> i was shocked when i saw the price. i was like wow, that's like double. i tried to get rid of the commute. but with the price, i'm like maybe i'll stick around with the commute, you know? >> san jose's rent hikes in the 1st quarter averaging 7.8%, that exceeded new york city 7.4%. san francisco's 6th on the list at 6.2%. oakland was 8th add 5.4%. san francisco 49ers have hired a sports agency to land a lucrative naming rights deal for a stadium in santa clara. caa sports negotiates big contracts for prominent athletes and also brokers corporate partners for stadiums and now the 49ers and the city of santa clara want to find a sponsor to help fund the stadium there, which is expected to cost more than $900 million. nearly a billion bucks. another amazing comeback for sports at cal. it appears the university gymnastics teams is vaulting off the block. they raised $2 million. they originally were supposed to raise $4 million but the team hopes by scaling down its budget and raising some money throughout the season, its program will be reinstated very soon. fundraising efforts also saved cal baseball. so go, bears, on that. the nfl has suffered another setback in it legal fight with players. a federal judge has denied the league's request to put on hold her order lifting a 45-day lockout. the nfl wanted a stay while it appealed the order. the league says it will advise its teams how to proceed this morning. the long delayed iphone 4 going on sale today. >> it took forever. it's nearly a year behind schedule. that's because apple said making the white casing for the phone was more challenging than first thought. they can make the guts but they can't make the francisco will be taking on some key issues in the prop 8 legal battle. supporters of the ban on same- sex marriage in california say former judge vaughn walker should not have shown a video of last year's trial during a speech. now judge james ware will decide whether walker can keep the video and whether he should have disqualified himself from the trial since he is in a 10- year-old gay relationship. walker ruled that prop 8 is unconstitutional. folks, changes for today, of course, we had a lot of that sunshine, just a couple of clouds yesterday. winds will be whipping up around the bay area today. that will be the major weather story as we see some of the breezes already kicking up near the coast. by the afternoon, yeah, it is going to be quite breezy out there because the winds, it's going to feel cool, breezy conditions continuing inside the bay and through the mountain gaps. we are talking 30-mile-an-hour winds, maybe some gusts, higher than that. still mild well inland. temperatures moving well into the 60s. but we have some much better brighter days ahead for you coming up. right now, we do have some clouds out at the coast. temperatures there mainly into the 50s. you have 40s and a few 50s elsewhere around the bay area. i think you will see some showers in far northern california. got to go all the way to eureka though to find the raindrops. further to the south you will see 70 in sacramento, and about 77 degrees a couple clouds rolling through in fresno. still, we are looking at some nice weather as we are going to see the winds kicking up for today but i think overall, the trend is going to be for some nice conditions for at least the next seven days and there is no rain in sight. this storm system is going to roll over the top of the ridge and as it does, we'll start to see the winds getting kicked up outside so expected a blustery day especially toward the afternoon. out at the coastline and the beaches you will see some sunshine. but those winds will be whipping up. temperatures expected out toward the beaches mainly into the 50s. going to feel cooler than that with the winds. you get protected inside the bay just a bit as high as 68 in morgan hill, 65 milpitas. inland temperatures getting close to 70 degrees in places like brentwood and into antioch. cooler inside the bay. you will feel those breezes in oakland and alameda. cooler temperatures at the coast and 60s in many of the valleys. hey, this is where it gets neat. you have a couple of days where we'll see winds kicking up and keeping the temperatures down but we get this right, we are heading into the weekend, high pressure builds in, we get offshore winds, some of those temperatures up into the 70s even some 80s towards the weekend. that's a look at your weather. how about some traffic? >> i can't top that. looks great. thank you, lawrence. we are following some developing news in dublin. there are streets blocked in this area. very early this morning, around 2 a.m., a suspect dead after getting into a scuffle with an alameda county sheriff's deputy near a car dealership on amador plaza road. kiet do is on the scene but streets are blockedded off in the area. the southbound 680 ramp to dublin boulevard completely shut down and has been since about 2 a.m. elsewhere, we'll go out live take a live look at conditions across the golden gate bridge. looks great here. no issues through marin. traffic nice and light all the way across the span. in fact, it's a quick trip from novato down into san francisco. now, if you are traveling along the coast we have learned they are doing roadwork in pacifica. one way traffic control is in effect since late last night. highway 1 at linda mar again only 1 lane getting by at a time 7:00. so expect delays. to the south bay we go and there is some roadwork it sounds like southbound 101 ongoing roadwork for most of the week between story road and capitol expressway. the guadalupe parkway, 280, traffic crews great through these areas and you can see just a couple of headlights. traffic is light at this time of the morning. typically give it another half hour and then we'll see
