words from a prisoner. it started in the el dorado jail and continues with nancy. nancy's love for phillip and god a constant thieve. >> phillip sends me bible studies that i enjoy. she knows they will never reunite on this earth. we have a great future in god's kingdom. phil and i keep our eyes fixed in god's kingdom. there is where our future will be together. nancy knows the only time she will ever get to see phillip is in court where they often exchange glancees. she seems hopeful at times even happy sharing details of her time behind bars. thank you for the card you made me. it is so beautiful. i'm not writing nothing in it. i'll send it to him. he will love it. by the way my birthday was 7/18. turned the big 55. i feel like 30. honestly, i continue to exercise in my cell. there are times when nancy's words might come back to haunt her in court. you'll love phillip as well because we are two peas in a pod. she later writes if phillip and i had the living god in our life 18 cole reporting. a marine sergeant from piedmont has been killed in afghanistan. he grew up with his father an stepmother and always dreamed of being a marine. he was married a had a 2-year- old son. we have dramatic surveillance video tonight from the moment after police say a sex offender sexually assaulted a 2-year-old girl in a union city store. you can see the clerk actually is distracted by commotion in the dollar tree wednesday afternoon. investigators say that is eugene ramos being chased through the store. witnesses managed to tackle the suspect outside the store and hold him until police arrived. he faced a judge in fremont today. he attacked the girl seconds after she walked away from a grandmother and aunt. >> obviously a danger to society. he grabbed a little girl and tore her diaper off and tried to rape her. >> unfortunately i have seen a lot of really bad cases but this is at the top. one of them. >> in '03 ramos was convicted of assaulting a 7-year-old girl. he faces up to 21 years in prison if convicted. a judge today denied bail for johannes mehserle. he asked for his release pending an appeal of his involuntary manslaughter conviction for killing oscar grant in 2009. the judge agreed johannes mehserle is not a flight risk or a threat to the public. to be released on bail after a felony conviction a defendant must also show he has a good chance of overturning the conviction. >> he thinks that he we have a substantial issue or issues that we have raised. he just did not feel sitting at the bench that the substantial issues would necessarily result in a reversal of the conviction. >> we are happy, of course, that he did not get let out on bail. >> we are still in pain. >> johannes mehserle will likely be released before his appeal is heard with credit for time served could be eligible for release in about seven months. not a welcome surprise. unemployment is higher than economists expected. new figures show the jobless rate rose to 9.8% in november and that's the highest in seven months. employers add evidence 39,000 jobs, economists expected 150,000 new ones. unemployment benefits are about to run out for nearly 2 million want to get on the ground floor of a potential gold mine. another contributing factor, international engineers are hard to get into the country because of visa restrictions so many companies are offshoring engineering work. >> we made an offer for an engineer last week in his current job which is in some big company. he was pigeon holed in a specific role. we saw the passion in him. we asked this evening in honor of 17-year-old raymond justice. he was gunned down in september a block away from his home. his father says raymond wanted to become someone who could help people. at tonight's gathering community organization leaders offered help for crime victims and solutions for crime prevention. a jewelry theft pulled off by several masked men. police say two diamond dealers were robbed in downtown los altos. they were about to head to the airport when four thieves stole their briefcases with the jewelry inside. the victims were not hurt. similar thefts have happened on the peninsula but police are not saying if the crimes are connected. demolition work has begun on the transbay terminal in san francisco. crews will be using the wrecking ball to smash up the old building. a $4 billion center will replace the new terminal expected to open in 2017. >> getting local high school talents and big time recognition. that's the goal of a former high school basketball player and his video camera. his work is seen by huge audiences on youtube. kiet do in fremont to explain how he puts it together. >> we are talking about a guy that has already got a full time day job but during the basketball season he is literally shooting and editing basketball videos as often as seven days a week. he does it for a little bit of cash but mostly for the love of the game. it is another night in the trenches of high school basketball where a typical match up like this would only be seen by the few dozen friends and family in the stands. but thanks to the unassuming cameraman at the end of the court it may very well be seen by hundreds of thousands of people on youtube. the maker of this video is travis. he blends high school basketball with hip-hop music. transforming it into
