and then i think absolutely are deserving of scrutiny and some of the statements including the one we just heard do kind of defy the laws of science. that being said i think that the media coverage of this issue has been extremely concerning and so reflective of what we see driving mass incarceration continually today even among populations that say they support change and the way we think about our criminal justice system. and when we talk about pardoning 600 people, right, and we focus on just 6 or 7 of those cases, we are doing a major disservice to the actual power of the pardon and refusing to contextualize in the history of american executive power, right? historically the pardon power has been used thousands of times over a president or executive's tenure, and now we're seeing it's used hundreds maybe dozens.
