od morning, everyone. welcome to today on a sunday morning. i m lester hol m jenna wolfe. how many people asked you how many desigrs you were wearing when you walk? tara, our stage manageriked my suit. that s one person. neither of us are going to the golden globes awards tonight. tonight golden globes kicks off the awards season as television and film ce together. we ll head to the red carpet for a preview and ta a look at who will likely walk home with a lden statue. tar said nothing about my outfit. also, the new titanic mystery. nearly a century after the disaster, the ship is vanishing from t bottom of the north atlantic. scientistsre saying the ship that was once called unsiable may disappearn 15 to 20 years. d three months bore the royal wedding whave interesting news about prince william and kate middleton. it involves anvitation from queen elizabeth and it s an offer probablyone of us would refuse. they are likely mulling it over. and an update o a very inspiring story about a group of kids we first introduced you to a few years back. the children all stutter and like in the golden globes nominee the king s speech they haveound a remarkable way to face the challenge and have confidence. we begin i tucson. ter mourners will gather for the funeral of dorwin stoddard as the supermarket where the tragedy unfold re-ope. miguel almaguer joins us with the lates from cson. good morning. reporter: lester, good morning. this grory store was t ba backdrop for bloodshed and a symbolic gesture to move forward. no longer a crime sce but stl a place of sor are yrowsorr. at 10:1 a.m. only sobs broke the silence. many here wnessed the bloodshed. saturday, they prayed for the dead. everybo was touched by this. erybody. reporter: as tucso remembers the victims, we know more about thesuspect. this ibelieved to be the voice of jared lee loughner, a rambling tirade recorded at pima communit college, months before the shooting. the youtube clip is the latest pie of evidence gathere by investigators. it comes ashey release the suspect s tiline before the rampage. november 30, the sayoughner bought a glock .9 millimeter hand gun. januy 7, a rl of film is dropped offt a tucson walgreen justfter midnight on the day of the shooting he checks into a motel. at 4:00 a.m. he writes good-bye friends on a social networking website. bag andullets bought at a walmart. then after 10:00 he takes a cab tosafeway. there are multiple people shot. reporter: 19 would be shot at th strip mall, six kill. all i saw was chaos, lots of people movin around, people on the grou. i will admit now when i got there my mindent blank for a while. reporter: for the first time first responders spokeut with a message tohe families of those who were lost. i wan them to know we did everything we cod. reporter: across town at universityedical centerhere hundredsatheredsaturday, jim tuck was discharged. two were in good condition. congresswoman gabrielleiffords is now off a ventilator but remas in critical conditn. the memorial outside the hospital grows each day. we have to come tether and stand wit each other a show love. reporter: a few miles away a smaller tribute, b for se a closer connection. this is wher lives wereost and where a community tries to mo on. funera for two more of the victims will be held this afternoon. a pea walk will end at congresswoman giffords offi. lester? well, i thinkhere will be a change in tone, at least for a while. there is polling i have seen this morning indicatg some of theawness of opposition to health care reform as passed by the congress last yearas abated some. this is gog to be a hot issue once again. it s not goingo be a issue that s pronged the way the house of representatives views it. but, look, the issues are toh. gun control, health care. those are going to be the conversations that are going on as congress gets back to business and iis going to test this new attitude. also this week the president iset to sit down with hu jintao. some call it the mos important state visit in three decades. what s at stake he? there are a numr of things the table. the president seems poised to pressure china over human rights and democracy. secretary of state clinton giving a pointed speech on the topic. theris obviously a range of economic concerns, chinaeing the country s biggest debtor, providing us with the money we ed tfund our governnt. issues of currency and then the latest wrinkle, too,s about defens is there an arms race brewing between the united stes and china? this is an uncertain time between the countries. turning to the political aftermatof the shootin in tucson, john mccain wrote an op-ed and in i heefended the president and praised sarah palin. hewrites, imagine how it must feel to have watched one week ago the massacre of innents and to hav heard in the coverage othe tragedy voices accusingou of the complicity in it. it ds not ask muchf human natu to appreciate how strong a need someone would feel to dend him or herself against such a slur. does that help sarah palin s mu criticized reonse? does it put it into perspective with what he wrote? i d t know that it necessily helps a great deal. you know, he was the one who introduced sarah palin effectively to the national scene byhoosing her as his running mate. it was a balanced piece. if you look at the piece, defending sar palin in that respect but taking some responsibility for a lack of civility and polital discourse and talking about a need to do better, rejecng those who would be critical of obama s character in some way for leadg the nation down the wrong path in the view of many. so thiwas kind of a balanced piece. again, in keeping witthe tone as senator mccain s praising the president for his speech in tucson andn keeping wh the tone thathey are going to try to keepoing as they come back to work. michael steele is out as rnc chairman and inc erke priebus i in. it shelocking and tackling. michael steele was critized in part because h couldn t raise enough money during a great time to raise mon as a republican foretting too much attention. they wantrassroots organization. that s what matters as you get closer to 12. this ia new leader who s seen as having a betterapacity to do tha to worwith campaigns, governors, et cetera, to get that in a better financi footing. thernc on better financial footing. thank you vermuch. thanks, jenna. liz francis is the news desk with a lk at the headline gd morning. we begin in brazil where they ar bracing for severe thunderstos and flooding today. floods and mud slide killed more than 600 people. officials haven t been able to get to remote villages forcing pele to fend forthemselves. some are walking for hours in the heat and the rain just t look for food and water. tunisia is on itshird leader i24 hours. the parliament speaker, now the interim prident, is holding talks to form a coalition government. wes of anti-government protest left dozens dead and forced out the long-time president. california s famed highway is re-opened after ten-car pile-up on saturday. threpeople were kild in the crash in newport beach. e is critical. police s an oncoming car lost control, became airborn and set off the ten-r crash. and a good sunday morning to you. i mews 4 metrologist chuck bell. we do have mid and high-level clouds out there this morning dimminout our morning sunshine. these clouds aren t going to last too much longer. we lend it with sunshine by later on today. temperatures have notropped all that much thanks to the extra cloud cover. we re genelly in the mid-30s this morni. 33 degrees in fairfaxhis morning. 34 in manassas. 35 degrees in montgomery county, maryland. 30 in the panhandle of wes virginia. sunshine on the way but colder today. now here s jenna. jace, thank you. this tril mark it is 99 anniversary of the sinking o thetitanic. an iceberg brought i down in the north atlanc but something smalleis making it disappear. kerry sanders reports. reporter: in the north atlantic, two miles bel the sea e so-called unsinkable titanic rests in darkness. the water temperature a cool 29 degrees. since the wreckage was discovered in 1985, sentific teams wondered, cld the 99-year-old graveyard one day turn to dust?
