VW VW will build six gigafactories with its partners, starting in Sweden and Germany, aiming for a total production capacity of 240 GWh by 2030. The automaker plans to switch 80% of its vehicles to its Unified Battery Cell by 2030, spanning several brands and reducing overall complexity. VW aims to build thousands more charging stations in Europe along with energy-giant partners, bringing 18,000 charging points to locations in Europe by 2025. During its inaugural Tesla-style Power Day, Volkswagen detailed plans for its electrification strategy over the next few years, one which will include a range of new technologies and approaches, including steps toward the long-awaited solid-state battery technology.
