Federal government OKs funding for $1.5B railway project in Bronx, Cuomo says

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday that a major project to connect the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Metro-North line to Penn Station would resume after the federal government signed off on the more than $1.5 billion project.
The governor made the announcement in the Bronx, which stands to benefit from the rail extension. The project will create four Metro North stations in the New York City borough, with a targeted opening date of 2025.
The state initially picked three groups as eligible to bid on the project in February 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the MTA to pause the endeavor. ....

Nine contracts worth $320m awarded for Singapore-Johor RTS Link systems

SINGAPORE - Nine contracts worth about RM1 billion (S$321.7 million) have been awarded for system works for the Johor Baru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link, said the rail link s operator - RTS Operations (RTSO).
In an update on Wednesday (May 12), the operator, a joint venture between Singapore rail operator SMRT and Malaysian public transport firm Prasarana, said these system works are progressing well .
It did not specify when these contracts were awarded.
Four of the contracts were for core systems, with Chinese firm CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive taking charge of the rail link s rolling stock and the Malaysian subsidiary of Siemens Mobility handling the signalling system and platform screen doors. ....

Railway Protection Force (
RPF) of
Western Railway’s Mumbai Central division raided travel agents in Bhayander and seized 42 unused reservation tickets with a combined value of Rs 1.1 lakh. Travel agent Mukesh Ghachi, 21, was arrested from the spot. According to the police, a preliminary inquiry suggested that Ghachi was engaged in the illegal business of booking e-tickets through advanced software.
