But for republicans this is really about a bet. a bet that if they rush this through as quickly as possible people won t get to the bottom of how truly evil this bill is. they know this is an embarrassing product. they know this is going to hurt millions of americans and they hope that if they rush this thing through people won t have the time to figure it out. but they will. they already have. they know that this is a big bill that is essentially a cost shift from all of those people that you just showed, the disabled, the poor, middle class americans who have gotten insurance through the affordable care act through drug companies and millions. $800 billion cuts in health care to pay for $600 billion dollars in tax cuts for people who don t need it. i don t think they re going to be able to pull this over on the american public but that s what they re trying to do. by tlushds rushing this threw. you re a democrat.

People. on the travel ban, look. we have a lot of people that live in the middle east. we have a lot of people that travel. it s my duty to stand up for them. clearly, you want the country to be safe. but it s also my duty to kind of stand up on their behalf. on climate, look. for 12 years we have been investing an initiative called ecoimagination which is really talked about driving energy efficiency in everything we do and we have been doing it consistently. we have booked over 00 billion dollars of revenue in that initiative the last 12 years. i think it s insincere not stand up for those things that you believe in. i don t think it s something we should do every day but i do think we are also stewards of our companies. we are representatives of the people that work with us. and i think we are cowards if we don t take a position occasionally on those things that are really consistent with what our mission is and where our people stand. don t forget you can watch that full interview this morning on fareed za car rk zakaria gps
Put in place is that stockholders own companies and management is employees. phillips agreed to buy back its stock from t. boone pickens. the profit to pickens and partners, $89 million. you ve made about $500 billion dollars through losing on your attempted takeovers. do you go into it anticipating a loss is still going to stand you really well. you never like to lose, but if you lose and make money, well, it makes it a little easier. i remember the guy got up and said, i have a question. he said, you re making a lot of money out of this. and i said the shareholders are, too. he said yes, but you re a fast buck artist. fast buck artist? i said, who in the hell would want to be known as a slow buck artist. i see it as a free enterprise system working at its best. pickens was the first investor to realize how undervalued american companies were and what you could buy there.
