Get Cast In A Hallmark Mystery Movie Made In Upstate New York

Get Cast In A Hallmark Mystery Movie Made In Upstate New York
New York continues to be a hotbed for movie and television production this spring and summer.
Currently, we have HBO's "The Gilded Age" shooting night scenes in downtown Troy, actor Owen Wilson has been seen all over the Capital Region shooting scenes and just hanging out while filling his new movie "Paint", and HBO's "The White House Plumbers" starting Woodie Harrelson has been casting extras and looking for vehicles for their upcoming shoot this summer.

Now the Hallmark Channel is jumping into the mix of projects being shot in New York. According to casting calls by HBG Casting they are looking for actors and actresses for "Redemption In Cherry Springs," a Hallmark Mystery of the Week film. New York House Is a Literal McMansion

New York House Is a Literal McMansion
There is a New York house for sale that was decorated as a love affair with fast food and it's crazy. The kitchen looks like a modern McDonald's complete with a kids section with old playland furniture. There are also tons of old fast food memorabilia like Ronald McDonald statues and stained glass that was used in McDonald's restaurants in the 70s.
The fast-food theme doesn't just start and end with McDonald's. It includes Burger King, Wendys, and White Castle too.

To me, the weirdest part of this $1,375,000 house that's listed on Zillow is that none of the fast-food decor is mentioned in the listing at all. Some of it is just hung on the wall or placed in a room, but some of it, like the kitchen and the playland statues, look like they are a terminate part of the house.

Hundreds of Jeeps Are Invading Lake George This June

Hundreds of Jeeps Are Invading Lake George This June
Get ready for a whole bunch of Jeep waves.
I am a huge Jeep fan. I've owned several Jeeps in my life including a classic 1965 Jeep Gladiator truck, a Grand Cherokee, and a few Jeep Wranglers. You might say I'm a bit of a "Jeep Nut" and I wear that badge proudly.
I've been off-roading all over the country in places like Colorado, Moab, Oklahoma, and Kansas. You can see a few pictures of the places I've been off-roading in the gallery below. Yes, I have even laid my Jeep over on its side off-roading once. If you're wondering, no there wasn't a lot of damage...except to the underwear I was wearing.

Masks Not Required at Great Escapes Starting This Weekend

Masks Not Required at Great Escapes Starting This Weekend
With the changes in Covid restrictions in New York, based on the CDC recommendations, Great Escapes has announced a change to their mask requirements.
Starting Saturday, May 22nd Six Flags Great Escapes will not require masks for guests that are fully vaccinated. Unlike a lot of businesses in New York that are still requiring their staff to wear masks whether or not they are fully vaccinated. Great Escapes will allow fully vaccinated staff the choice to not wear a mask while they are working.
In the press release and the article at News10 regarding the change in their mask policy, they didn't mention any other changes for their Covid safety policies in the park. Like social distancing, riders being separated on the attractions, and reduced seating.

'The Gilded Age' Brings Fresh Paint and Road Closures to Troy

The Capital Region continues to be the hotspot for big TV and movie productions. Owen Wilson has been seen around town in North Greenbush and Saratoga. Woody Harrelson will be in the area soon filming "The Whitehouse Plumbers" a new series on HBO and of course Troy is getting ready to be featured as the 1880s backdrop to HBO's "The Gilded Age".
Filming is rumored to start in late May and run through June in several locations around Troy. The Production crew from HeyDey Productions LLC has already started prepping buildings and the streets around Troy for the film shoot. They have been repainting and rebranding storefronts to match the 1880s time period and have removed a bunch of the modern street lamps that wouldn't be period correct. Check out the pictures below for some of the "restoration" of the Troy streets that will be used by "The Gilded Age"

The Bizarre Legend Behind The Upside-Down Traffic Light in NY

A friend of mine told me about something strange you can find in a neighborhood in Syracuse. There is a traffic light that is upside down in the Tipperary Hill neighborhood. Yes, upside down, like the red light is on the bottom and the green light is on the top.
So, why was up out up the wrong way? Well, that's a bit of legend that involves Irish immigrants in the neighborhood.
As the story goes the original traffic light was put up at the intersection of Milton Ave and Tompkins Street back in the 1920s. Shortly after it was put up it was destroyed by Irish residents. They would stand near the intersection and throw rocks at the traffic light until the glass was broken and it stopped working.

Rolling Stones In Albany - Do You Have These Ticket Stubs?

Prior to the pandemic, paper tickets were quickly becoming a thing of the past. I would imagine that when we return to our favorite venues we will never hold a paper ticket stub again.
The ticket stub is my favorite souvenir. One look at an old stub and I am immediately taken back to that date, at that venue to see that band. One monumental Albany show was when the Rolling Stones played the Palace Theatre on the 1965 North American Tour. This marked the first 2 headlining shows in the United States. Yes, 2 shows! The Stones played at 6:45p and 8:45p.

'Crescendo On Wisconsin' Seeks Help for Struggling Entertainment Industry Workers | 105.7 WAPL

Crescendo On Wisconsin, a statewide campaign committed to helping struggling Entertainment Industry workers stay safely in their homes by providing emergency energy and rental assistance during these difficult times.
The entertainment and hospitality industry has been one of the sectors hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic. Across the country, indoor music venues have faced capacity limitations making it impossible to remain open, while outdoor music events with large gatherings of people were canceled in an effort to curb the spread of the infectious disease.
Drastically reduced performance opportunities brought the industry to a screeching halt.
The Crescendo On Wisconsin Campaign is reaching out to provide a hand up by assisting entertainment industry workers (artists, musicians, stage and sound crew, venue workers, etc.) with obtaining much-needed financial assistance for keeping a roof over their heads or their heat and power on.

I Received the J & J Vaccine Last Week...Should I Be Worried?

Editor's Note: This piece is from our WRKR colleague Steve King from Q105.7 in Albany, NY.
Last Monday I had the opportunity to get vaccinated against the coronavirus. I was pretty excited because I had an appointment that was originally scheduled in mid-May, but because of a supply of Johnson & Johnson vaccines that were given to New York, I was able to get vaccinated sooner.
I really liked the idea of only one shot...not that I'm afraid of shots...I liked the idea of "One and done". My appointment was at the Market 32 Pharmacy in Troy on Hoosick Street. The shot was no big deal, the pharmacist that gave me the shot was awesome and they observed me for about 15 minutes after the shot. I felt fine and I went on my way. The next day I felt a little crappy, but nothing too bad.

By Bill Galluccio
Apr 12, 2021
A water official from Las Vegas is urging state legislators to pass a law that would ban ornamental grass that nobody walks on. This includes grassy areas in office parks and housing communities and the grass that fills roadway medians.
Southern Nevada Water Authority public service director
Andy Belanger wants to see that grass removed by December 2026.
"SNWA's Andy Belanger: We're asking the legislature to consider legislation to require the removal of unused turf throughout the LV Valley by Dec. 2026. What's unused turf? It's grass that never gets stepped on except when it's mowed," the SNWA tweeted.

Regeneron announced that the results of a Phase 3 clinical trial show that its antibody cocktail helps prevent symptomatic COVID-19 infections. The company said that the drug, named REGEN-COV, reduced the risk of symptomatic infections by 81%.
The drug cocktail was granted an emergency use authorization by the Food and Drug Administration to treat high-risk, non-hospitalized patients with mild to moderate symptoms of COVID-19. That treatment was only approved to be given intravenously.
"COVID-19 transmission often occurs via infected people who do not yet have symptoms, so it is critical that we rapidly diagnose and treat these individuals for their own health and to prevent transmission," said

Rochelle Walensky said that officials need to "shut things down" to deal with the recent uptick in new cases.
Over the past week, Michigan saw a 16% surge in the average number of daily COVID-19 infections. According to
While Michigan Governor
Gretchen Whitmer has called on the CDC to provide her state with more vaccines, federal officials have refused, saying the state needs to put new restrictions in place to deal with the rise in cases.

Mar 31, 2021
Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office have wrapped up their investigation into the single-car accident involving
Tiger Woods. While investigators have determined what caused the accident, they refused to provide any details citing privacy concerns.
"We have reached out to Tiger Woods and his personnel," Los Angeles Sheriff
Alex Villanueva said. "There's some privacy issues on releasing information on the investigation, so we're going to ask them if they waive the privacy, and then we will be able to do a full release on all the information regarding the accident."
Woods was seriously injured after he lost control of the Genesis SUV he was driving on the morning of February 23. The car struck a raised median and spun out control across two lanes of on-coming traffic before hitting a tree and rolling over in a ditch on the side of the road.
