Welcome back, everyone. we have a very special interview to share with you this morning. it features jaycee dugard, who spent 18 years in the captivity of a couple in california. amazing story here. during her first ever visit to new york she received an award and also spoke for a second time with world news anchor diane sawyer. it is an abc news exclusive. reporter: you may remember she was 11 years old, waiting for the school bus, when convicted sex offender phillip garrido and his wife, nancy, kidnapped her and imprisoned her in a deranged back yard. she was pregnant at 13, gave birth to two daughters. her incredible story of survival told in the book a stolen life. i was kidnapped by a stranger at age 11. and i want phillip garrido to know that i no longer have to keep his secret. reporter: we first spoke to
Her eight months ago. and this is jaycee dugard today. still taking delight in ordinary things, like her first trip to new york city. oh, the buildings are incredible. my gosh. these cab drivers are like in and out, in and out, in and out. reporter: she is 31 and still reclaiming her real life. do you ever forget for whole days what happened to you? oh, sure. it s not it s not with me every day. i mean, that is over. you know. he nancy and phillip are behind bars. he hasn t tried to contact you, has he? no. not at all. which is fine with me. have you felt more anger? i am angry. you know. but on the other hand, i have two beautiful daughters that i can never be sorry about. reporter: the daughters fathered by garrido. she managed to protect their privacy even after the book. do the girls want to talk to you and ask you questions? we were in that situation together, and they know what happened. and it s time to move on and
The interview will air in july around the time that dugard s new memoir a stolen life is released. networks have a way of getting money to a certain person. they can hide it under the entertainment division or something like that, right? an olympic swimmer, this is an amazing story. he was nearly buried alive. this is 19-year-old jacob maly not sure the pronunciation, members of the austrian swim team, he s one of them. they dug a hole in the sand in the beach in florida and he got stuck in the hole. it collapsed on top of him. he was stuck for two hours with the sand crushing his body. it took 60 rescuers to dig him out. the austrian swimmer was taken to the hospital and released in good condition. they were concerned he had internal organ damage from the crushing i don t know if it was quicksand or what it was but a good lesson to not dig a seven foot hole on the beach. that does seem odd. meanwhile, let s take a look and find out what we got ahead weatherwise. look at this. some thunderstorms right now
Drug smuggling tunnel discovered under the u.s./mexico border. they reportedly found this tunnel in arizona 15 feet underground. it s a 250 foot long passage. it s outfitted with lights, running water, even ventilation. eight other drug passages have reportedly been discovered in the same area in the last few months. and jaycee dugard was held captive for 18 years and she s set to publish her memoir. she s set to release the book a stolen life. she s also narrated the audio version. and silicon valley giant microsoft says it has agreed to buy the internet phone service skype. the price tag $8.5 billion. it s the largest deal the software company has ever brokered. skype users made 207 billion minutes of voice and video calls just last year. not bad. and develops news right now,
