Awards Wrap: Effie Awards back in 2021, MediaCom wins Adweek Global Media Agency of the Year

The 2021 Effie Awards South Africa season opens
Mathe Okaba
The Association for Communication and Advertising (ACA), is pleased to announce that the very first Effie Awards South Africa
will be held in 2021 following the postponement of the inaugural programme due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Effie Awards South Africa, officially launched at the end of 2019, provides brands
and their agency partners the opportunity to receive global recognition for
their most effective marketing and communications campaigns. Media agencies,
marketers and advertisers worldwide view the awarding of an Effie as a respected
global symbol of achievement.
“The pandemic has unfortunately resulted in not only changing the entire marketing and communication landscape and how agencies have had to adapt and re-focus, but it has left a void to some extent in the recognition of effectiveness in marketing campaigns. Effie’s mission is to lead, inspire and champion the practice and practitioners of marketing effectiveness and we are relieved that we’ll be hosting the first globally recognised marketing effectiveness awards programme in South Africa in 2021,” said Mathe Okaba, CEO of the ACA.

The "Trump" lettering is taken off of the Trump Parc apartment building in Stamford, Conn. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021. Many of the building’s residents supported the move, in part because they feared the name would drop the value of their homes.Tyler Sizemore / Hearst Connecticut Media
STAMFORD — The Trump Parc condominium in downtown Stamford is no more.
The building now simply says “Parc Stamford.”
While the word Trump is still legally in the name of the residential tower, passersby will notice that the last name of the former president of the United States is no longer displayed above the entrance to the building on Washington Boulevard.

When Walt Disney Co. talks to Madison Avenue going forward, it will be with one voice.
The media giant will in weeks to come hold three different meetings with advertisers to describe new marketing opportunities across its portfolio of assets. As a part of that plan, Disney will no longer hold a separate presentation for its Hulu streaming-video hub, as has been tradition for the last several years. Hulu’s showcase for advertisers took place during the industry’s annual “NewFronts,” a series of events organized by the Interactive Advertising Bureau, a trade organization that represents digital-media companies.
