Marshall University has received a substantial investment of $500,000 from the Appalachian Regional Commission to continue building on its reputation as a premier cyber security academic institution in Appalachia. U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and chairman of the Senate Armed Services Cybersecurity Subcommittee, along with Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., ranking member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, announced the funding for the Appalachian Cybersecurity Training, Innovation & Opportunity Network (ACTION) project. This project will create a virtual network of shared learning materials and lay the groundwork for a cyber workforce in central and southern Appalachia.
