of things we learned from the news conference one is that the columbia journalism school deenz and researchers tried to find out exactly what happened to jackie directly. they tried to rereport the substance of the story and not the substance of what happened with "rolling stone" and weren't able to get any further than what the charlottesville police department did which is to say they can't figure out if there's any evidence for the claims. they haven't excluded anything may have happened to this young woman but they have no evidence to sub shans ate it. they wanted to say again and again, this was not about being sensitive to the victim or to the woman who said she was a victim. this was about a failure of journalism and any efforts by "rolling stone" to put it on this young woman, they said are problematic and not the point of their review. so you know moving forward, i think they really want to think about what's in best practices are on covering sexual assault. steve cole, one of the authors
