surprise us. say in north carolina it could surprise the democrats and capture that, a black woman running that race, beasley, who has run a good race. there are some others out there, in ohio, i think, that -- i wouldn't count out ryan against vance. everybody thinks vance is going to win this, ryan is complaining -- but even so ryan is still, i think, competitive. i can't -- frankly, i can't remember an election with so many undecided, so many close calls, so many ones that are unpredictable. >> yeah, it's a good point. listen, that's the one constant in election recent cycles is that there are surprises. you say if republicans win this will be seen in the party and by trump himself as a win for trump. you've worked with a lot of presidents, you've seen a lot of politicians come and go. are you surprised that less than two years after january 6, after the senate majority or minority leader i should say mitch

north carolina or around the country. because the talks about is when she talked to voters all over the state. whether it is in the urban senators, where democrats get their numbers up, or when she travels to rural communities. she has talked to women of all ages. she has talked to young people. they are gonna play a major role in this place and in parts of the suburbs outside of the -- there are new voters, people in the state that we don't know about. they are trying to reach those votes. >> we are talking a beasley this afternoon. thank you very much. tony hilton is live from winston-salem, north carolina. still ahead, today's meeting of the banned book club's gonna be different. we're not taking a look at a single band book. we're taking a look at the movement a book banning as a whole. it is actively a movement. it is an organized one. a 10 am, i am joined by the georgia hopeful, stacey abrams. many say that she is entering his race as an underdog. don't miss my conversation. -- nversation --

people don't have no hope. >> reporter: you just met james flowers right there. he's raising his 8-year-old daughter here in anson county, and he served his country in the military for six years and loves his country but told me, you know, at times he is not sure his country loves him back as a black man who is living here and feels he's not represented or seen whether it's by local politicians or people at the national level. he wants people to answer his questions before he feels like people here should keep showing up and giving him support. when it comes to major races, you know, beasley has been going to some of the rural counties trying to make up lost ground, but in a state as purple as this one, you can't afford to leave votes on the table. it's these voters like james you have to reach right now to make a difference in a state like

radicalism. try to run as moderates. they're not hiding it anymore. you know, the issues come down to radical policies on energy, wide open borders. defund, dismantle. it comes down to woke education versus traditional curriculum in schools. they're saying it openly and no restrictions at all on abortion. they all seem to be out radicaling each other thinking that will resonate with the american people. especially in light of two years of biden? >> they're in a bind here if they don't say the things you're talking about, nobody gives them money. just listen to what ted said about mrs. beasley. she ran statewide and lost by 400 votes. trump won by less than 1 percentage points. ted is running one of the best races in the country. don't let the polls fool you. these people surge at the right time. if they say no to d.c. statehood, is a know to trying

you know what? this is our democracy, and you're not going to take it away from us whether you're independents, democrats, moderate republicans. and i think that is a factor for a lot of voters. donald trump's shadow, as you could see from ted cruz's answer, is still looming above this election. so that's why i'm all in with fetterman and catherine cortez masto, mandela barnes, all of our candidates, judge beasley and val demings, and tim ryan, who i was just with a few days ago in ohio. against all odds, is in a tie in ohio, and i think can win that race. so i don't want to hear anyone counting out our candidate because it all comes down to who shows up to vote. and you want to have ted cruz and you want to have donald trump in your face every day, or you want to move forward and help people in this economy and get things done for them. that's what this election's about. >> i appreciate your time. thank you very much. >> thanks, anderson. another compelling and

january 6th are not trying to do with voter suppression laws. as you just pointed out, people show up in gear. at a voting place to scare people. that's what's happening. so, if anything as we saw in georgia in the last election in the runoff. it makes voters. bad they want to turn out and say, this is our democracy in you're not gonna take it away from us. whether you're independent democrats moderate republicans. i think that is a factor for a lot of voters. donald trump's shadow, as you can see from ted cruz, is still looming above the election. so that's why all in with fetterman and -- margiela barnes, all of our candidates, judge beasley, val demings, and tim ryan. who i was just with a few days ago in ohio. against all odds, is in a tie in ohio.

as of yet. clearly, that is good news for but. bad news for beasley. >> neil, your sense of how that's playing out in new hampshire? >> we've seen at the abortion issue go from about 12% people believing it to the number one issue, to 22. it has really expanded. presumably, this will help the democrats. obviously, we take something away, it motivates voters. and so, democrats are really working on this because they are a little demoralize. the president's numbers are down. we see about 70% of people believe the countries on the wrong track. and democrats really need to get that women vote and potentially the abortion vote to the polls. i think they are trying to motivate that group of people to do so. we will see what happens and whether or not that overcomes some other issues, such as inflation, which are also registering the highest right now in new hampshire. >> again, to lose back to the point we are making throughout the show, a lot of this comes down to how you are modeling this electorate, who you think is actually going to show up in
