There is perhaps no First Lady more iconic for her style than Jackie Kennedy. For decades, she defined what timeless American elegance could look like with her understated—but never boring—sense of style from head to toe. Naturally, her impeccable taste led her to favor certain brands, relying on them again and again to bring her ensembles together and keep her looking flawless. Some have dismissed the cryptocurrency craze as something created by and for the Silicon Valley set, but digital tokens are hitting the mainstream. Last Wednesday, Coinbase, the US-based platform where cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin are traded, debuted on the Nasdaq. The next day, the Miami-Dade county commissioner called for a cryptocurrency task force, which would allow residents to pay taxes, fees, and services with online currency, a potential win for the city attempting to become the country’s shiniest new tech hub. Meanwhile, crypto is gaining steam in the beauty world, particularly when it comes to paying for high ticket items, like cosmetic procedures and luxury beauty products.

Krigler Perfumes Leases Fragrances From its Archives - How To Smell Like Grace Kelly

Robert DOISNEAU
It’s easy to tell from history books that Pablo Picasso had a penchant for striped shirts and that Grace Kelly looked like a princess long before she became Her Serene Highness. But what did they smell like? That’s a question very few people can definitively answer, but Ben Krigler is one of them.
“I’m taking you on a trip through history,” says the fifth-generation CEO of Krigler Perfumes when I meet him in a suite at the Palais Hansen Kempinski Hotel in Vienna, five vials of liquid arrayed between us. This meeting (which took place before the coronavirus pandemic made such things impossible) was months in the making and was shrouded in secrecy like something out of a Bond film, but we were not there to do an arms deal. We were sampling fragrances.

How to Make Custom Perfume, Scent, Fragrance

The last several months have shown us what we will consider to be self-care essentials no matter how dark and weird current events become. Skincare and bath salts, yes. Nail polish? Maybe not. Perfume, surprisingly, has proven be particularly pandemic-proof: Sales for all things home-scent-related have surged, while traditional spritz-on-the-wrist fragrances have continued to sell apace, even when most of us are venturing out, if at all, with masked nostrils muted to the smells of the world.
For many, this has actually been a time of awakening to the power of perfume—its ability to transport our minds through time and space, to comfort us, to give meaning, even magic, to mundane moments. In an atmosphere of enforced isolation, scent can provide a sense of connection—to each other, to nature, to ourselves—and what used to be a quick spray on the way out the door can instead be a meditative, Calgon-take-me-away-esque ritual, rife with transcendent pleasure. Forget the received wisdom (and marketing) that says we wear fragrance to attract others, we’ve clearly discovered the delight in wearing it for ourselves. And for a certain set, it follows: Wouldn't it be supremely luxurious to spray on a scent as unique as one’s own fingerprint?
