- shares New-car sales continue to show signs of a strong recovery as the Australian economy bounces back from coronavirus lockdowns and border restrictions imposed through much of last year. Official new-car sales figures for May 2021 released today show demand for new motor vehicles has returned to pre-COVID19 levels, but it was the second-best May result rather than a record. A total of 100,809 new vehicles were reported as sold in May 2021, an increase of 68.3 per cent compared to the disastrous May 2020 result posted in the grip of the coronavirus crisis. May was only the second month this year to eclipse 100,000 new-car sales, and it was the third time in three years May has been in six-figure territory.
New vehicle sales in Australia are continuing to rise, with May VFACTS figures revealing another 100,000-plus month. We saw a dip in April compared with March, in terms of total sales, but May becomes the biggest-selling month so far this year. During May 2021, 100,809 new vehicles were registered in Australia (we’ll call them sales for brevity). That’s up from 92,347 in April, and up 68.3 per cent on the 59,894 vehicles sold in May last year. Obviously this time last year wasn’t a good period, considering May was pretty much the peak of coronavirus. Year-to-date, that’s 456,804 units, up 37.5 per cent on the same five-month period last year.

The official packaging is also labeled “ Forza Horizon,” so in theory, the new cars are created by Hot Wheels and Microsoft specifically for marketing purposes to promote the new game. The 2019 Mercedes Benz A-Class, Corvette C7.R, and a Porsche 911 GT3 RS are all coming as Hot Wheels models and presumably would be part of Forza Horizon 5 as well.
