DUBLIN (Reuters) - Betting group Flutter Entertainment, the owner of Paddy Power, Betfair and PokerStars, said on Saturday it is considering listing a small shareholding of its U.S. FanDuel business.
Flutter, the world’s largest online betting group, has identified the United States as its next big growth market after a ban on sports betting was lifted in 2018. In December it increased its stake in FanDuel to 95% in a $4.2 billion deal
The Irish company said it was making the disclosure in response to media speculation about a possible FanDuel initial public offering. CNBC reported on Friday that Flutter was considering spinning out the business.

BERLIN, March 12 (Reuters) - European broadcaster RTL confirmed on Friday it was exploring the sale of its controlling stake in French broadcaster Groupe M6 as it reported a 26% slide in annual core profit due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“We are currently reviewing such options for our controlling stake in the French broadcaster Groupe M6, with a view to creating value for our shareholders,” CEO Thomas Rabe said in a statement.
Rabe, who also heads RTL’s controlling shareholder Bertelsmann, approached potential bidders in January to explore a sale of M6 as he undertakes a broader restructuring of the German publishing group.

EU may take legal action against Hungary over opposition radio licence

BUDAPEST, March 12 (Reuters) - The European Commission said on Friday it may consider legal action against Hungary after it refused to renew the licence of a radio station whose talk show guests have often criticised government policies.
Klubradio, which has broadcast for 19 years, was forced off the air last month after it lost an appeal against the removal of its licence. It has been broadcasting on the internet since mid-February.
On Thursday Hungary’s media authority rejected Klubradio’s application for a licence in a frequency tender in which it had been the sole contender left, saying it did not meet requirements.

South African regulator's approach to spectrum auction was unlawful, court says

3 Min Read
JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - A South African judge said he had halted the radio frequency spectrum auction planned this month by regulator ICASA because he deemed the process unlawful and irrational.
High Court Judge Selby Baqwa passed an order on Monday prohibiting the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) from proceding with the auction, pending a hearing on contentions raised by telecoms operator Telkom and broadcaster e.tv.
The reasons for his decision were not contained in the order shared with journalists at the time.
At the heart of the dispute is a decision by ICASA to put up for auction the 700MHz and 800MHz spectrum bands, currently used by television broadcasters, before the migration of broadcasting services to digital from analogue has been completed.

KYIV, March 11 (Reuters) - The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) on Thursday rejected the Belarusian entry for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest and said the country risked being disqualified if it did not change its entry or submit a new one.
The Belarusian entry, by a band that has released songs mocking protests against President Alexander Lukashenko, has sparked a backlash from opposition figures and fuelled calls by a European Parliament lawmaker for Belarus to be suspended from the popular competition.
“It was concluded that the song puts the non-political nature of the Contest in question,” the EBU said in a statement. “In addition, recent reactions to the proposed entry risk bringing the reputation of the ESC into disrepute.”
