South Korean pop star Suga has submitted an application to start his military service, as required by South Korean law, according to a statement from the band's agency, HYBE. Other members of K-pop sensation BTS, J-Hope and Jin, have already started their military service. Although Bang Si-hyuk, HYBE's chairman, has highlighted the potential impact mandatory service could have on K-pop's worldwide reach, K-pop musicians are currently ineligible for military service exemptions, which have been granted to Olympic medallists and certain classical musicians.
