Photo by Alika Jenner/Getty Images Although many of the numbers for the Steelers 2021 draft picks had been floating around, the Steelers officially announced the jersey numbers for their entire 2021 draft class on Thursday. JERSEY NUMBERS It had previously been announced that first round draft pick Najee Harris would be wearing his number 22 just like he did in his four seasons at Alabama. The rest of the jerseys are also now official from the Steelers. Pat Freiermuth will be donning number 88 when training camp opens in July. In college he sported the number 87 but it is currently issued to tighten Kevin Rader. Center Kendrick Green will bring a familiar number to the position as he has been issued number 53. One of two numbers he wore in college, Green’s other option of 55 is currently issued to Devin Bush. Offensive tackle Dan Moore Jr will get to keep his number 65 he wore while at Texas A&M.

Of the eight players the Steelers signed after the draft, three stand out as potential roster boosts. Pittsburgh has plenty of depth to fill this summer, and are never shy from letting an undrafted rookie earn his place within the NFL. Shakur Brown, CB, Michigan State It starts with Shakur Brown. While some believed Brown would've found himself drafted over the weekend, sliding into free agency certainly helped the Steelers.

What the Steelers accomplished on those two days in 1974 deserves to be recognized as the greatest accumulation of talent in professional sports history. Shakur Brown, CB, Michigan State Calvin Bundage, LB, Oklahoma State Rico Bussey, WR, Hawaii Donovan Stiner, S, Florida Jamar Watson, LB, Kentucky More on the undrafted rookie free agents: Michigan State cornerback Shakur Brown left school after his redshirt junior season and was projected by some draft analysts as a fourth or fifth round pick. He earned All-America honors from the Walter Camp Football Foundation (second team) and Pro Football Focus (third team) and was a first-team All-Big Ten selection by the coaches and Pro Football Focus. Brown had five interceptions in just seven games in 2020, leading the nation in interceptions per game. In 26 career games he had 54 tackles, two tackles for a loss, two sacks, 16 pass defenses and one touchdown.
