100 Southampton care home residents with coronavirus have died in under a year

1/1
MORE than 100 Southampton care home residents with coronavirus have died in under a year, data has revealed.
New figures from the Care Quality Commission have shown that between April 10, 2020, and March 31, 2021, a total of 123 "death notifications" involving Covid-19 were recorded at 21 of the city's care homes.
Following the data's release, CQC bosses have called for "consideration and respect" to be shown to those living in care homes, as well as families and staff affected by loss.
The South East proved to be one of the highest areas for deaths involving the virus in care homes as the CQC's data shows 7,404 death were recorded in the 11 month period.

Rikki Beadle-Blair: the brilliant stage and screen writer who should be a household name

Last modified on Thu 20 May 2021 05.01 EDT
Rikki Beadle-Blair was just 15 when he caught the attention of a film director. It was 1976 and the Bermondsey Lamp Post, the experimental, anarchic south-east London free school he attended, had financially collapsed and been shut down. With little to occupy him, he began writing and producing plays in the streets where he lived.
Bugsy Malone had recently been released at the cinema, and Beadle-Blair thought it would be perfect for a big neighbourhood production. Today, the writer and director of the pioneering Channel 4 show Metrosexuality can look back on a career that includes writing six films, directing three more and writing and directing more than 40 plays. But back in the 1970s, he was advertising his show in shop windows and asking local children and other teenagers to audition. “What was great about Bugsy Malone,” he says, “was that it was a multiracial film. So it encouraged a multiracial turnout.”

Cornish Tin give more details on Wheal Vor near Breage drilling

Now mining consultant Jeff Harrison has spoken further about the plans in a statement sent to everyone who has made contact with the company since it announced its plans.
As part of it he has addressed people who say they were upset to only just be hearing about the plans, rather than as a whole community involved from the start.
Mr Harrison said Cornish Tin informed the Cornwall Council mineral planning officer and Breage Parish Council in October last year of its plans, but they were asked to keep this confidential whilst landowners were identified and contacted.
"It is a sensitive issue to inform a landowner that they do not own the mineral rights below their land and that exploration can happen, and they do not need to give their permission.

>> the pilot can just put that in any mode and actually fly outside that area. what's not clear to me is was the airplane at a low altitude, avoiding the radar where at a low altitude you'd rather be closer to land and avoiding radar or was it at altitude and further away from land? >> carleen, about the idea that they i've been so focused the pilot, although they have background checked all the passengers as i understand it and the other co-pilot, but you envision more a scenario where it was not the pilot. >> absolutely not. there's numerous reasons. first the pilot would not fly his own airplane above his surface ceiling, 45,000 feet. if he intended on taking the plane out and it was a suicide, immediately after departure he
