republicans specifically speaker mike johnson who basically said as much last night in an interview on a conservative network, he said, republicans only control one chamber here, and i barely control this chamber. another nod that the conference has been a consistent thorn in his side. what this does tee jose, the time is technically zero, but it is the first and only vote of the day and sometimes it takes members a little longer to get on the floor and cast their votes. but what this does tee up is a saturday session where likely tomorrow afternoon we are going to see the house vote on these four separate bills that would provide aid to ukraine, to israel, the indo-pacific, and then a potpourri of other priorities that are included in a fourth bill, one of those includes legislation around banning tiktok. but this all tees it up. this is the procedural motion that had to happen in order for us to get to saturday. and now here we are, though, it is not official until the gavel is sounded in that room.
can see so far there have been four democratic nays, we'll keep an eye on those different columns. these bills are facing significant republican opposition. that's why democrats may end up stepping in. far right members threatening speaker johnson's job over this. let's get right over to nbc's ali vitali who's tracking the very latest on capitol hill for us. walk us through what we expect of this vote this morning and after those unusual dynamics overnight. >> reporter: we're expecting it to be bipartisan in fashion, ana. a lot of movement around me here because these are the steps that lawmakers take to go up into the chamber to vote. some of them of course are already on the floor now. if you're going to see and you're looking at the vote tally in the house chamber right now, you're likely to see a lot more republican votes happening than you are to see democrats voting. it might look like that because our understanding is that they might be waiting, the democrats to see how many of them they actually need to join with republicans and help them get

johnson in a pretty tough spot. what's the latest from him? >> reporter: we just had a chance to catch up with him as he was walking to the house floor for this vote series. he said he's not concerned about his job, that to him this is a moment of doing the right thing. but look, certainly there is a lot of frustration within his conference, and among a vocal few who say this they have either diminished respect and confidence in their speaker or in the case of people like marjorie taylor green who are outright threatening a motion to vacate. now, again, there are threats and then there are privilege threats, and privileged threats tart the clock on this. we are not there yet, but if you listen to the way that the speaker was talking last night, he's aware of the realities of his conference right now, basically saying, hey, we've only got control of one chamber here, and we barely have control of that one. stunning words from the speaker. >> we only control one chamber, and i barely have control of that. i can't -- the gnat won't advance our legislation and the president won't sign it.
we know that democrats are seriously entertaining and are likely going to vote for it. the fourth piece of this bill is the thing that's sort of a little bit up in the air, though i think the way they wrote the tiktok provision, not just sweetens it on the house side of the building for democrats but also gives it a little bit of a softer landing pad on the senate side of the building. of course, they'll take that up at some point in the coming days after the house passes this on saturday. it's really the argument over what happens next for the speaker, that many of us are watching closely. it is striking to watch the speaker on a conservative network say that he barely has control of the chamber and that he barely has control of his conference that has the majority in the house. yes, it's the reality, but watching him admit that after the day he had yesterday i thought was really telling, given the fact that we spent a good chunk of yesterday morning talking with republican members who had just come out of a huddle with speaker johnson, wherein they were urging him not

rule that means that democrats are likely going to step into advance this set of three important supplemental packages, including one for israel, one for ukraine, and one for the indo-pacific. now this has been brewing for the last several weeks on capitol hill, johnson at one point seems like maybe he wasn't going to go forward. then he announced on wednesday that he was going full steam ahead. we expect the final votes on these packages to happen tomorrow, then they will be tied together, sent to the united states senate that process could also get underway over the weekend. and then we could let's see a vote next week. and the united states senate. but obviously this has taken months. kate and this package that we are seeing today in the house, it looks very similar to what the senate passed months ago out of their chamber and in the mix with all of this and still hanging out there is as speaker, johnson allows us to move forward, we'll, his
