Remember, the track problem was actually detected in early july near the smithsonian station, but nothing was done about it. Then the derailment happened in early august. Metro conducted an investigat n investigation, found out that an employee mistakenly deleted the information that identified the track problem. Two people so far have resigned because of this, but theres still a whole lot of safety concerns. Trains are rolling slowly in numerous locations because of safety issues that were identified after this derailment. Problems that metro says it has to fix immediately.
