A Sequel to Robbie and Stephen Amell's Code 8 Is Coming to Netflix

Netflix is picking up a new superhero film. According to
Deadline, Netflix Co-CEO and Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos announced that it will be the home for
Code 8: Part II, the sequel to 2019’s
Code 8.
Deadline reported earlier this month that creators Robbie and Stephen Amell would return to the world to reprise their characters in the sequel project, and that Jeff Chan was also slated to return to co-write the screenplay and direct.
The original film has an unconventional origin: it started as a short crowdfunded film back in 2016, which starred the Amells as a pair of “Specials” in a world where a small percentage of humans had powers, and were relegated to the fringes of society.

Code 8 may not be as ubiquitous a title as
X-Men, but when it debuted on Netflix in April 2020, it garnered a positive reaction from critics and sci-fi fans alike. The film, starring cousins Stephen Amell and Robbie Amell of Arrowverse fame, was a feature-length adaptation of a short with the same name by Jeff Chan.
Now that feature is getting its own sequel, with both Amell cousins and Chan returning to their positions as stars and director, respectfully.
Code 8 takes place in the fictional Lincoln City, in a world where 4% of the population are born, inexplicably, with powers.
Instead of being lauded as heroes, or using their powers to amass wealth, they are vilified by the public at large – even after being recruited to Lincoln City to help build it in the first place. Here's what we know about the sequel so far.
