Anxiety and Depression on the Rise Due to the Pandemic

For more than a year, New Yorkers have seen their lifestyles turned upside down by the coronavirus. Though the pandemic is not new, some say they still can’t get used to the face masks, social distancing, and restrictions.
“For me, not depression because I’m not the sort of person that gets depression, but definitely anxiety. There’s too much uncertainty about everything. I think a lot of people are having something called pandemic fatigue. Everyone is just sick of it,” said Marcelo de Antunano.

Kentucky Expands COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility

Kentuckians 16 and older are eligible for COVID-19 vaccines starting Monday
This move is one week ahead of Gov. Andy Beshar’s original expanded eligibility date
It puts Kentucky almost a month ahead of President Joe Biden’s goal eligibility goal
16 and 17-year-olds can only get the Moderna vaccine, while adults 18 and older can get Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson shots
This move puts Kentucky one week ahead of schedule, as this was originally set to happen next Monday. It also puts Kentucky almost one month ahead of President Joe Biden’s goal to have all American adults eligible for vaccines by May 1.

Positivity Rate On the Rise in Kentucky

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky’s COVID-19 test positivity rate rose to almost 3.1% after declining steadily for several days, Gov. Andy Beshear reported Friday. The positivity rested right at 3% as of Saturday afternoon.

Ohio Pediatrician Plays Role in Teen COVID-19 Vaccine Study

SOUTH EUCLID — Dr. Shelly Senders is the founder and CEO of Senders Pediatrics in South Euclid. His office has been working with Pfizer to study the effectiveness of the pharmaceutical company’s COVID-19 vaccine on teenagers.

The pediatrician's office is looking for younger volunteers for the next vaccine study
Clinical trials began in October and included testing of 144 area youths who volunteered to take part.

UofL Health Hosts COVID-19 Vaccine For Cancer Patients

KENTUCKY — Students around the Commonwealth will see some changes to their daily routine after the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) updated the temperature check portion of the "Healthy at School" guidance.
