the sub sea volcano rises about 300 feet above the sea floor. we have more breaking news outside pueblo, colorado, at least two of three fugitive siblings has been caught after a high speed chase. these were a trio of brothers and sister who have been wanted in florida for firing off at deputies and going into bank with an ak-47. miguel is bringing us the details. >> reporter: right now we have a confirmed report from the sheriff's department that all three suspects have been taken into custody. they were stotted near pueblo, colorado, 90 miles from where they were spotted yesterday afternoon near colorado springs. the sheriff's department tells us that they identified the car going down a highway. they tried to pull the car over. the car sped up and gave police a pursuit. that car was then somehow disabled. officers were able to take all three of the so-called dougherty
custody -- third suspect in custody now outside of pueblo, colorado. this is trio of siblings, two brothers and a sister who have been on the run now from florida police after firing on a deputy more than 20 times and here you saw the shots of them going into a bank there with an ak-47. miguel is following the late breaking details. so they have the third guy? >> reporter: the details are still rather fluid. this invest is still clearly unfolding. but sheriff officials have now confirmed to nbc news that all three suspects of the so-called dougherty gang are now in custody. they were taken down in what appears to be a shotout that left one of the suspects most likely grace dougherty shot in the leg. after they were spotted in colorado springs yesterday, it's believed that the dree owe that all three siblings were spotted at a local sub way. officers were able to follow their car and tried to pull them over near pueblo, colorado, what
is about 90 miles south of colorado springs. apparently the suspects would not pull over. somehow their car was disabled. they may have been involved in some type of accident or crash. two of the suspects were immediately taken into custody. one of the suspects were shot in the leg. the suspects were wanted for eight days for a crime spree that has spread several states. they were first wanted in florida for apparently shooting at a police officer some 25 types during a high speed pursuit that went over 100 miles per hour. five hours after that they crossed state lines reportedly in georgia where they allegedly held up a bank with high powered arsenal weapons and then of course, they were spotted in colorado yesterday. so this has been a manhunt that has spread across several states. police have been very concerned that they were extremely armed, but very dangerous that certainly turped out to be a case today as we have just found out and confirmed all three of
of them are in custody in colorado. the colorado state patrol caught two of them half a high speed chase with reported gunfire. this happened south of pueblo, colorado, they've been looking for these three. it's two brothers and a sister. and there were reports coming in that they were in tennessee. they were wanted because they started running from police in florida, actually fired some 20 times, at least 20 times at the deputy. took a big ak-47 into a bank. we've been following the story. now what we're getting is this news, miguel, that two of the three siblings have been caught and are in custody. >> reporter: there's a couple of preliminary reports going out. here's what nbc news has confirmed, authorities have confirmed to nbc news that two of the so-called dougherty gang members have been captured and taken into custody. they were captured about 90
miles south of rei the camping store where they were spotted yesterday afternoon. authorities said they saw their vehicle traveling down a local highway. they tried to pull them over. a short pursuit followed them. it went on for 20 miles. the car was somehow disabled. there was no gunfire. there was no shots that were exchanged. the authorities took two of the three siblings into custody. there are some preliminary reports an nbc affiliate is reporting that a third suspect may be in custody. as you mentioned police have been looking for the so-called dougherty gang for six days now. there's 29-year-old lee grace and the two brothers. the two have led police on a high speed pursuit reportedly shooting at an officer 20 times in florida. from five hours later reportedly robbed a bank in georgia.
investigators have been on their tail ever since then. there's been a nationwide manhunt for them. their face and images have been plastered on billboards from texas to florida. now we're hearing news after being spotted in colorado by several witnesses at a local catching store in colorado springs, they have been captured about 90 miles to the south of colorado springs near the city of pueblo. authorities say at least two of them have been captured. again there are some preliminary reports, reports not yet confirmed by nbc news that the third suspect has also been taken into custody. again, all of this has happened without the exchange of gunfire according to authorities on scene. >> we'll wait to hear about the third suspect. my understanding is when they caught the two the third one took off on foot. you wouldn't think it would be that difficult in that area to try to find him again. we'll wait for confirmation that a third arrest has been made and maybe relief for their mom that they were caught alive because
