and found in west virginia 58% of respondents said kavanaugh should be confirmed. that has increased since before the hearings. a lot of people after seeing his very passionate defense of his reputation in that hearing will have moved in that direction and women as well had nearly a 20 point spread saying we actually think kavanaugh should be confirmed. eboni: i think we know all polls can tell us something different. we learned last election cycle not to put too much in any of those polls. under the premise that some have kind of soured on judge kavanaugh, in your estimation, is there reason to consider putting another conservative forward? >> again, i also -- i want to say, i think there's a lot of people who are very concerned about this process. i see and we heard for example kellyanne conway reveal- eboni: we're going to get to
kelley ann in a second -- >> we get a lot of e-mails saying -- eboni: can i ask, does it have to be brett kavanaugh in the seat? >> he's been a person that's been nominated. to rescind the nomination because of unfounded, uncorroborated allegations at this point would be a huge travesty to -- eboni: is that a yes? >> i think yes, the president said he's supportive of kavanaugh. i would say we need to follow this process through and not withdraw his nomination simply because of unfounded allegations. that would be a horrible thing to the process. it would say simply that it's guilty until proven innocent instead of innocent until proven guilty. >> sadly, you can hear in the conversation here there's doubt about the integrity of this individual and sitting on the supreme court. the option that was always available to brett kavanaugh was to say listen, we were all young at one point in time. we all do things we regret. i show remorse and contrition
>> i don't think thomas hardiman engaged in sexual assault. >> we've seen a campaign mounted to slurs against judge kavanaugh that i think there would have beebeen drudging up stuff on anyone. no one said she was there but we also have dozens of people who knew him at the time including some she put at the party who say this sounds nothing at all like the kavanaugh we knew. so at the end of the day, is it guilty until proven innocent or do we have to say these are old allegations -- eboni: i don' i don't think as saying that. >> the standard of proof is not a criminal trial. you're talking about the supreme court. you're saying should this man get a promotion to the highest court in the land and sit in judgment of everyone. i think on that question, you choose people who you have very little doubt about their integrity and character. when this comes up in a way that i don't believe its unfounded, i think it is corroborated by
