With Morelli on leave, Trenton gets new interim law director

TRENTON — He's hoping to bridge the disconnect.
Wesley Bridges must rely on his roots and relationships in Trenton if he is to restore peace in the capital city. He is being tapped as acting law director, pending state approval, to replace the deposed John Morelli.
Bridges, a local talent and founder of the Trenton-based Bridges Law Group, has developed a reputation over more than a decade in practice as a bulldog litigator.

N.J. electors back Biden as he prepares to get the 270 Electoral College votes needed to become president

N.J. electors back Biden as he prepares to get the 270 Electoral College votes needed to become president
Updated Dec 14, 2020;
As the 59th Electoral College met at the Statehouse in Trenton, New Jersey Chief Justice Stuart Rabner
swore in the electors.
“We are privileged as New Jersey electors to select the overwhelming choice of the voters in our great state,” Murphy said.
The electors backed Biden and then Vice President-elect Kamala Harris in separate voice votes, and then filled out paper ballots. Applause followed when Murphy announced the results.
The electors were chosen in the Nov. 3 election. Biden polled 57% of the vote in New Jersey to 41% for President Donald Trump.

NEW JERSEY - The college that gives no diplomas met in the Garden State Monday and pledged all 14 votes to the president/vice president ticket of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
Although the voters cast their ballots five weeks ago, these are the votes that according to the US Constitution, really matter. The will of the voters is reflected in the actions of state electors, the Electoral College. Electors are chosen by political parties at the state level and in some cases are bound by law to vote in a way that is consistent with the results of the popular vote

If the 2020 presidential election had been more conventional than conspiratorial, Monday's Electoral College vote would be viewed as a ceremonial coda to a long campaign season.
But for the 14 Democratic electors scheduled to convene at 3 p.m. in the Assembly Chamber in the Statehouse in Trenton, the vote is freighted with a larger symbolic significance.
The Democrats are hoping that the dull formality of casting their prescribed votes for the winners, President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, will drive another nail into the coffin of President Donald Trump's delusional crusade to overturn the election.
