Other nations may ‘entice’ Palau with funding if U.S. remains idle
KOROR, Palau (Island Times, June 7, 2012) – Members of the United States Congress have asked the Obama Administration to hasten anew the congressional approval of the Compact Review agreement between Palau and the United States.
It is almost two years since the Agreement was signed and the Compact is still pending before the U.S.
Congress said that the delay is causing some leaders of Palau to question the Agreement and the commitment of the U.S. to a friend that is vital to US security and international position.

SUVA, Fiji Islands (August 27, 2001 - Daily Post/FijiLive/PINA Nius Online) -If the Fiji Military Forces fail to support the new democratically elected government against threats of violence, the government should seek help from the United States, says American Samoa s congressman in Washington.
Eni Faleomavaega made the comment in Nadi yesterday regarding the elections to restore Fiji to democratic government after last year s coup by indigenous Fijian rebel gunmen.
He added that while he was optimistic that the Fiji military is capable of handling any upheaval in the country, outside intervention would have to remain an option for the new government.
