USDA program Invests $987 million in rural Nevada loans since 2009

More than $161 million was invested in rural Nevada in 2014 by the Department of Agriculture's Rural Development agency to support housing, business and community facilities. Since 2009, the rural agency has provided more than $987 million to strengthen rural Nevada’s families and communities.

WNC offers driver education classes for young drivers

Western Nevada College is offering New Driver Education Classes this summer and fall that will help young drivers fulfill Nevada law requirements and strengthen skill areas that are usually lacking. The four-session courses are available to those age 15 and older at the WNC Carson City, Fallon and Minden campuses, as well as in Fernley.

BLM firewood permits available at multiple locations

The Bureau of Land Management Carson City District is continuing to sell firewood cutting permits at multiple locations. Pinyon pine and Utah Juniper permits are $10 a cord. People may purchase up to ten cords before a commercial firewood cutting permit is required. Only dead trees — standing or down — may be cut.
