reporter: no other gun man is found. at this point it looked like he acted alone. reporter: officials won t say if the suspect was targeting someone on an arriving flight or if he s cooperating. randi kaye, cnn, new york. let s get much more on this. i want to bring in jeffrey thomas, an aviation perspective, joining us from skype. great to have you on the program. we want to talk about airport security to start off with. should we be alarmed that this individual was able to check in a firearm when he d already flagged himself up to authorities? absolutely. it is a troubling background to this gentleman from what has been reported to us. the fact that he had some problems apparently, allegedly, and then indeed checked this
firearm with his checked baggage which of course is allowed in certain states of the united states. and that was nothing illegal this doing that. however of course what transpired of course was a terrible tragedy. but the problem we ve got here is ....

e-mails. and then the letters comey sent to the hill, one saying we found more e-mails on anthony weiner s laptop that could be pertinent to our investigation, we need to look at those, and then his follow-up letter a few days before the election in which he said, we ve done that review and we haven t had anything. hillary clinton herself has said she thinks that first letter in late october changed the course of the election. so, the inspector general is going to look at that and a couple of ancillary things. there have been allegations that an fbi deputy director should have taken himself off part of this case because of some connections to the campaign or his wife s connections to the political to politics in virginia. some allegations that an assistant attorney general for legislative affairs passed information along to the clinton campaign, and other employees disclosed nonpublic information. the foeklecal point is the two actions by the fbi director, the letter to the hill ....

kellyanne conway had to say about it today. that cannot be verified. that s a classified briefing. we should all be increasingly confirmed that we have, quote, intelligence officials, divulging information unsourced, unnamed to the rest of us. just to smear the president-elect of the united states we now have intelligence officials divulging information they re sworn not to divulge. we should be very concerned about that. i don t even think this is fake news. i think it s just fake. i would take the news word right out of it. reporter: so what we re seeing from donald trump and his advisers is pushback against the intelligence community but taking issue with the underlying allegations that cnn has not cooperated and have not been reporting. and reince priebus, trump s chief of staff, said he asked donald trump directly about some of these underlying allegations. donald trump apparently told him they were complete garbage but
in more colorful language. you can bet this will ....
