Shortly after 9:30am on Wednesday, February 22, 1995, a Massachusetts State Police helicopter developed engine trouble and crashed into the roof of the Harvard Yacht Club on the banks of the Charles River in Cambridge. 39 year old Sergeant Paul Perry and 33 year old Sergeant James Mattaliano of the Mass State Police Air Wing died in the crash. The Troopers were transporting two civilian communications specialists who also perished. Investigators determined the helicopters engine failed due to contaminated fuel. Judiciary Committee Chair and Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin called Merrick Garland's nomination for attorney general "one of the most critical" in the Justice Department's history.
"There have been few moments in history where the role of Attorney General — and the occupant of that post — have mattered more," Durbin said in his opening statement.
"Judge Garland, should you be confirmed — and I have every confidence that you will be — you will oversee a Justice Department in an existential moment. After four tumultuous years of intrigue, controversy, and brute political forces, the future course of the Department is clearly in transition," he continued.

The first day of Merrick Garland's confirmation hearing for attorney general just wrapped.
For more than six hours, Garland testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee and faced questions about a multitude of topics, including the politically charged investigations that await him if he's confirmed to lead the Justice Department.
Here's a look at some key lines from today's hearing:
On the DOJ's independence: "I don't care who pressures me in any direction. The department, if I am confirmed, will be under my protection for the purpose of preventing any kind of partisan or other improper motive in making any kind of investigation or prosecution. That's my vow. That's the only reason I'm willing to do this job," Garland said.

The Louisiana Department of Health announced Monday, February 22, that 501 vaccine providers across the state will receive very limited doses of COVID vaccine this week.
The providers include 168 chain pharmacies, 138 independent pharmacies, 47 hospitals, 45 public health providers, 24 urgent cares, 23 federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), 18 community events, 16 medical practices, 12 rural health clinics (RHCs), and 10 other healthcare providers. LDH says they represent all nine public health regions and 64 parishes of the state.
This week, Louisiana expects to receive a total of 90,630 doses of the COVID vaccines.

Boil advisory lifted for Cecilia Water System

The Cecilia Water System says that pressure has been restored to the water supply system.
On Wednesday, February 17, the system experienced low water pressure caused by excessive use of water during freezing temperatures.
The boil advisory that was in effect until further notice has now been rescinded.
Officials say that water is now safe for consumption.
