We learned this morning that the trooper did something that may have saved his own life. Fill us in. Reporter yeah. That i say he had a turnicat on his belt we also know he will need more surgeries. He is fighting for his life inside saint lukes hospital. It was a traffic stop that turned into a brawl and gun b t battle. Just about an hour ago we learned more details about what happened along that highway. They say he was given a speeding ticket but then failed a sobriety test after failing to be under the influence of marijuana. He then began fighting with the troopers. He was able to run to his car and grab a gun and police say he then shot the two troopers. Dash cam shows him fleeing the scene, leaving behind Corporal Kelly, bleeding out with life threatening injuries. He was greatly injured at this point. He fell over the guardrail. Meteorologist krystal klei is keeping track of our weekend weather. Krystal, fill us in. It could be worse t. Could be yesterday all over again. Take a look at our current temperature change map this is comparing temperatures to 2 hours ago. Were three degrees warmer but not bad. Areas like philadelphia were nine degrees warmer than yesterday at this same time. Eight degrees warmer in wilmington and millville and seven degrees warmer in atlantic city. So not a bad change for us as we go through our morning hours. Many locations are actually above freezing. Areas like allentown and coatesville are getting close at 30 outside. The winds are helping us out. Yesterday they were 1015 miles an houring the windchill quite a bit lower than the true temperatures. Today we dont have that worry. Well talk about the temperature trend and the warmup through workweek coming up. Now back to that breaking news out of philadelphias feltonville neighborhood. Issued sometime this evening for the heart of the delaware valley, strong winds is the major concern there but you can take a look at those dewpoints, that moisture rich air dark greens in the midatlantic with dewpoints in the lower and middle 70s. That just means theres a lot of water molecules sitting in the atmosphere so when a storm hits it literally floods that rain out of the atmosphere. So, scattered storms and downpours here this evening, right through saturday morning. Some areas could see up to 3inches and if that happens, there could be some localized quick flash flooding with the heaviest steadiest of that rain with the front passing through between 4 oclock and 8 oclock tomorrow morning and when i come back well talk about a sevenday which features better news here for most of the weekend sharrie. Lifethreatening emergency continues to unfold in texas. Krystal klei is tracking harvey and our neighborhood forecast. Krystal. Stark difference between our forecast and the forecast in southeast texas. This is a look at radar right now over the area. Look at the yellows, oranges, reds. Thats the heaviest rain. I can tell you, it has been in this exact same spot for hours and hours straight. Now, storm totals reporting over 20 inches in some spots around houston, with another 15 to 25 inches possible to fall over the next several days. Which does suggest some areas could be near four feet of rain totals for just this storm by the time it does come to an end. The problem with it is the very Little Movement that were experiencing with Tropical Storm harvey. Only moving right now one mile per hour. And stuck in the same spot, continues to bring heavy rain to the same location. ....
You can see in southern new jersey and delaware and theres the front coming in from the north and west popping some thunderstorms Near State College and scranton because of some sunshine that has returned well watch these as they sink to the south and east. Most will eventually fall apart but some communities could get hit by a scattered downpour or thunderstorm this evening. A local view on storm tracker6 along the shore shows that rain continues to fall steadily from mays landing right on the brink of millville south of dover to the shore.
