Debrecen to host FIBA 3x3 Universality Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2021
DEBRECEN (Hungary) – The last ticket to the 3x3 tournament of the Tokyo Olympics (for both men and women) will be awarded in Debrecen on June 4-6.
Debrecen - the second largest city in Hungary - will continue to build its 3x3 legacy by hosting the FIBA 3x3 Universality Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2021. 
Since 2015, Debrecen has played host to a major international FIBA 3x3 event every single year.
The FIBA 3x3 Universality Olympic Qualifying Tournament will bring together 6 men’s and 6 women’s teams. They will be competing for the last ticket in each category to the Tokyo Olympics, where 3x3 will make its debut.

FIBA, the International Basketball Federation and Twitch have reported a multi-year collaboration to bring more basketball content to Twitch.  The agreement in FIBA is the first of its kind and will not only just stream sports content but also tailor the content to maximize its impact on Twitch’s interactive live streaming service.  FIBA will broadcast 600 hours of live basketball games each year to its own Twitch channel, including other unique programming formats that are developed to leverage Twitch’s interactive tools and features. 
FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis said: “FIBA is delighted to announce this unique collaboration with Twitch, a live streaming service that is used by millions of people globally each day. This innovative agreement will further strengthen our strategic objective to enlarge the FIBA family by offering year-round basketball action to more fans, on an interactive service.”

FIBA, the International Basketball Federation, and Twitch have announced a multi-year collaboration to bring more basketball content to the interactive live streaming service.
The strategic agreement with FIBA is the first such deal that Twitch has struck with an International Federation. FIBA will not just stream sports content but also, together with Twitch, will tailor that content to maximize its impact on the service.
FIBA will broadcast around 600 hours of live basketball games each year to its own Twitch channel as well as other unique programming formats, which are specifically developed to leverage Twitch's unique interactive tools and features. Fans will be allowed to produce FIBA-related content on their own Twitch channels since FIBA is one of the few rights-holders in global sport to give access to official footage to Twitch creators.

Japan draws tough assignments for Tokyo Olympic basketball tournament

Japan’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will face a stiff challenge during the preliminary round of this summer Tokyo Games after being given a tough road during the draw for the Olympic tournaments on Tuesday.
The host country’s male squad was placed into Group C along with Spain and Argentina, the finalists of the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China. The final spot in the group will be filled by the winner of one of the four qualifying tournaments taking place in four nations from June 29 to July 4. The Group C qualifier will come from the tournament being held in Kaunas, Lithuania.

BERLIN — The NBA’s best players will feature at next year’s Tokyo Olympics even though the season could end just days before the Games get under way, FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis said on Wednesday.
The new National Basketball Association (NBA) season will start next week, on Dec. 22, with the regular season wrapping up on May 16 before the playoffs between May 22 and July 22.
The Tokyo Olympics, which were postponed by a year to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, kick off on July 23, with the basketball preliminaries starting two days later.
“Looking at the late finish of the Orlando bubble (last season’s playoffs) and the following season, we had requested an in-depth discussion with the NBA and the NBA players association,” Mr. Zagklis said.

Tab Baldwin: PBA players, amateur stars to play for Gilas in February

Gilas Pilipinas project director coach Tab Baldwin has hinted a mixture of PBA players and collegiate standouts as possible roster for the national team in the FIBA Asia Cup Window 3 in February next year in Clark, Pampanga.
Baldwin mentioned this Thursday afternoon in an online press conference that formally launched the partnership of FIBA and Smart Communications for the 2023 World Cup, which the country is co-hosting with Japan and Indonesia.
According to Baldwin, several PBA players will be invited for the training camp starting January, which gives the national team one month to prepare for the Feb. 18 to 21 tournament where the national team meets Indonesia, and plays South Korea twice.
