Community Blood Screening taking place Thursday in Alpine


An Alpine Blood Screening will take place at the Alpine Fire Department on Thursday, May 27 from 7-10 am.
The screening will take place at the Alpine Fire Department and will work in conjunction with Wyoming Health Fairs.
Officials are also asking that those in attendance please wear a face covering upon arrival. One can be provided in necessary.
It is recommended that those being screened fast for 12 hours prior to the blood draw unless there are diabetic concerns. Those being screened are also advised to drink plenty of water and take medications as usual.
The Alpine Fire Department is located at 220 U.S. Highway 89.

Jefferson County sees 'unprecedented' spike in overdose deaths this year
The increase in overdose deaths is the highest in five years, according to Scott Russ, Chief Deputy of Investigation for Jefferson Co. Coroner's Office.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — From 40211 to 40299, in homeless camps, alleyways, and in homes, overdose deaths are taking place all over Jefferson County. 
"They're in every zip code just about," Scott Russ, Chief Deputy of Investigation for Jefferson Co. Coroner's Office, said. "Early-mid teens to senior citizens, it's all over the spectrum."
