Fractured Generation

Hou Zichao and Yuan Keru participated in the group exhibition "Fractured Generation: Electronic Color, Networking, Fashion Consumption, Science Fiction Prose and Global Identity of the Post-90s ".  The emergence of the "broken generation" marks a major turning point in Chinese contemporary art. This turn was more radical than previous art movements, and as a result caused widespread confusion.

The polymathic Kitaoji Rosanjin (1893-1959) — widely known as Rosanjin — was arguably the greatest Japanese potter of the 20th century. He was also a painter, engraver, lacquer artist and a master of calligraphy, as well as an antiques dealer and restaurateur who served his guests on tableware he made himself. In 1954, he traveled to the United States for an exhibition of over 200 works at the Museum of Modern Art (which has seven in its collection) and then on to Europe where he met Picasso and Chagall. In 1955, he was selected in Japan to be a Living National Treasure for his mastery of Oribe ware. But he refused it, miffed that his former apprentice Arakawa Toyozo had already been so designated, for Shino ceramics.

British fashion designer Stella McCartney contemplated and distilled an alphabetised manifesto that is both a blueprint of future intention and a map of her fashion brand's DNA -- spelling out its point of view while simultaneously questioning its approach.
"Our A to Z came out of the early days of lockdown in London when I had time to pause and reflect on what really matters. I put into words what defines what we love, know and believe about fashion -- an A to Z of Stella McCartney," she says.
