Hubbard Feeds Recalls Certain Easy Feed Organic Chick Starter/Grower Org
WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Hubbard Feeds is recalling certain Easy Feed Organic Chick Starter/Grower Org as it was found to contain deficient levels of salt, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.
According to the agency, low sodium may cause abnormal nerve impulses so chicks' muscles will not move well. Low sodium can also affect the cell's normal internal pressure which can affect cardiac output due to deflated muscle not working well. The growth of birds may also be negatively impacted.
This recall involves only EASY FEED ORGANIC CHICK STARTER/GROWER ORG with batch number B01785781 distributed in the state of Colorado. No other batch numbers or other Hubbard Feeds products are involved in the recall.

Ice storm damage is expected to impact hazelnut yields, while cleanup is vital to allow tending to orchards.
When Ken and June Melcher first visited the Willamette Valley from Norfolk, Neb., they were immediately captivated by its temperate climate.
"They had some discouraging years in Nebraska. They came out here to visit my mom's parents. They came in September, and everything was nice and green and pretty," recalled Dennis Melcher, Ken and June's son and current patriarch of Melcher Family Farm in St. Paul. "They found a place, and dad plunked down some money on the property and went back to Nebraska to sell the farm."

Pamplin Media Group - Hubbard company reaches a metal-making milestone

February 08 2021
Ulven Companies celebrate 50 years of business in 2021, growing from a Molalla shed to a global supplier.
In 1971 a young Oregon couple, Andrew and Diane Ulven, had a life-determining decision to make.
Andy had a couple of years of law school behind him, had worked in sales for a few years, and had previously worked more hands on with "hot metal." Diane had a tidy savings account.
When the couple discussed their future, they decided that a life in which they were able to make their own decisions, decide their own fate, was preferable to other options before them. So they took $3,000 and purchased Molalla Iron Works, described in reminiscence as "a two-man operation producing low volume products, mostly pins and repair parts, on a 500-pound Little Giant trip hammer."
