Screen International has revealed the selected alumni for its Stars of Tomorrow 2020, which includes three Irish actors: Helen Behan (The Virtues), Paul Mescal (Normal People), and Dónall Ó Héalai (Arracht); Northern Irish writer-director duo Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson (The Salisbury Poisinings) and writer-director Colum Eastwood (Black Medicine); Costume Designer Sinéad Kidao (This Way Up); and Cinematographer Kate McCullough (Arracht, Blood, Normal People).
The annual talent showcase highlights the most exciting actors, writers, directors, producers, and heads of department emerging across the UK and Ireland.

Aifric, followed a few years later by student-flatshare drama
Seacht. It was making the 2014 Irish-language short
Sinte for writer/director Tom Sullivan that provided an epiphany (“Tom has an uncanny ability to mine honest performances from actors”), and Ó Héalai was inspired to study screen acting at the Bow Street Academy in Dublin.
Like many from the west coast of Ireland, Ó Héalai felt the gravitational pull of the US, where he shot a number of indie dramas, including
Loud Places (2017) and
Next came word from Sullivan, who had attached Ó Héalai to his debut feature
Arracht: the project had achieved greenlight and the actor was returning to Ireland. “Sometimes you have to leave home to come home,” acknowledges Ó Héalai, who adds that all his experiences, and the perspective of an outsider, proved “tremendously helpful” when it came to tackling

Dreaming is considered by many people to be the gateway into understanding humanity, and what motivates people’s emotions and actions. Audiences can once again explore what propels people’s thoughts while they’re asleep, as well as the line between dreams and reality, with the upcoming release of the soundtrack for the psychological thriller, ‘Impossible Monsters.’ The soundtrack, whose music was composed by Michael MacAllister, will be distributed on Tuesday, May 26 on such platforms as iTunes, Google Play and Amazon.
The release of the film’s soundtrack comes after the drama had its theatrical distribution in New York and in Los Angeles earlier this year, on February 14. ‘Impossible Monsters‘ was then released by Gravitas Ventures on various Video On Demand platforms in North America, the UK and Australia, and worldwide on Vimeo, on March 3.

Dreaming is considered by many people to be the gateway into understanding humanity, and what motivates people’s emotions and actions. Actor Santino Fontana is powerfully exploring what propels people’s thoughts while they’re asleep, as well as the line between dreams and reality, in the new psychological thriller, ‘Impossible Monsters.’ In honor of the movie’s upcoming release, ShockYa is exclusively premiering the movie’s official poster.
‘Impossible Monsters‘ is set to have its theatrical release in New York at the Cinema Village theater, and in Los Angeles at the Laemmle Monica Film Center, on Friday, February 14. The drama will then be distributed on various Video On Demand platforms in North America, the UK and Australia, and worldwide on Vimeo, on March 3. Gravitas Ventures, a Red Arrow Studios company, acquired worldwide rights to the feature. Nick Royak of Gravitas Ventures negotiated the deal with Glen Reynolds of Circus Road Films on behalf of the filmmakers.
