At the current pace of vaccination against coronavirus, India would another 8 years and 9 months to inoculate 70 per cent of its entire population, a threshold required to achieve herd immunity.
As of April 20, approximately 10.97 crore Indians have received the first dose of one of two coronavirus vaccines approved for use in the country. This accounts for a mere 8.09 per cent of the nation's 135.5 crore population. Meanwhile, only 1.75 crore people have received a second dose so far, which is just 1.29 per cent of the overall population.

After seeing rising daily new cases last week, India reported a plunge in fresh infections on Tuesday.
As many as 10,584 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, according to the Union ministry of health. The total number of cases now stands at 1,10,16,434. There are 1,47,306 active cases in the country, as of Tuesday.

115 foreign missions send 3000 names for India's COVID vaccination drive

Around 3000 foreign diplomats and their eligible family members based out of India have sent names for New Delhi's offer for vaccination against COVID. India had offered vaccination using India-manufactured covid vaccine to diplomats based in the country--both in the national capital Delhi and various consulates across the country. Around 115 missions and 39 international organizations responded to the Indian offer and a final call will be soon taken on when the vaccination starts.

India No. 3 in world as 58L health, frontline workers get vaccinated | India News

NEW DELHI: India vaccinated the third highest number of people against Covid-19 in the world with over 58 lakh health and frontline workers receiving first doses of the vaccine till Sunday evening, the health ministry said.
The US and the UK are ahead of India. However, the two countries had started vaccinations against Covid-19 much earlier. The health ministry’s observation about global ranking is based on data till February 5 from ‘Our World in Data’ and does not include China.
The Centre has asked states and UTs to exponentially increase the coverage, so that the vaccine drive can be accelerated. Around 12 states have vaccinated more than 2 lakh people each. Uttar Pradesh alone accounted for 6,73,542 of all vaccinated people.
