Ridgway State Park is taking a step toward becoming an International Dark Sky Place by participating in a mentorship program that will help officials, who hope the park will be certified within two years, navigate the certification process. The park is one of four organizations, along with Friends of Brown Canyon, San Luis Valley Great Outdoors and Visit Durango, to receive a Colorado Dark Sky Certification Mentor Program award issued by the Colorado Tourism Office and Colorado and International Dark-Sky Association Colorado Chapter.
